Hello everyone,Did a search but didn't come up with anything so here goes. I'm looking for an e34 auto gear knob, seeing that some guy actually yanked it upwards and almost broke it into half when it was at my mechanic. Now it's barely hanging in there, i figured a few more shifts and it might come off.I know that theoritically you can get it from a chop-shop. Besides there, any idea where I can get more funky looky ones? Oh, and has anyone changed there's before? where and how much greatly appreciated.Rgrds

If i'm not mistaken, you can use E39 gearknobs. And there are lots of fancy ones in the aftermarket like carbon fibre, brushed aluminium, wood from Schnitzer, Hamann, Alpina and the likes. Replicas are also plentiful. But E39 knobs are not T shaped like the original E34 though.

I changed mine from the T-shape wooden knob to an E36 staight knob. Can be done at most workshops, probably around RM400-500 with the knob & the lever. You better ask first.

Do you mean it's not just a simple procedure of removing the old one and sticking in a new one?

Actually, its a no-brainer to replace the gear knob. At least for me. I took DD's e36 ori gear knob & slap it in. I think got a screw. Thats it. I replace mine bcos the spring inside the button not working anymore. You want mine (FOC), cos actually still can use one? Just need to look for it only.

Thanks guys,

Not sure whether the shift button works the same for both e36 and e34, cuz afaik, e34 SB is at the bottom.

Chaik, if FOC when can i meet you? hehehe. would appreciate it. But a bit malu la, don't even know you but wanna request for FOC, at least a TT on me.

bimmerman, where's the best place to get these aftermarkets? CF and Brused aluminium looks cool la, but in malaysian whether, after an hour under the blazing sun, i don't think you can even touch it. Did it for my previous car, was extremely painful to drive when after a couple of hours in da sun. But would love to check it out. Maklum-lah, we're all bimmer nuts.

No problem. Need to look for the gear knob, its somewhere. Will let u know once I found it.

OSflanker's new gear knob will look more 'awet muda' if there is a gear lock. Any idea on it?
