Ok Im in a dilemma here, planning to upgrade from 520 to 525Ive already got the engine but w/o ECU, what happens if i use back my 520 ECU, any problems? will i get the full potential of the 525 engine?Ok now lets say I manage to get a 525 ECU, would it be just plug and playor is there wiring or some other stuff involved ? bcos this engine not from halfcut so I suppose certain wirings are not there. Why Im asking is bcos Im getting two different answers, One says its just plug & play where else somebody else say there is more to it than that.Triple ??? :dunno:

Saw your engine in the workshop, just service and ready to be drop in your car. :D
After this can try it out in SIC on 13th Nov, 2005.

Hmm... B) Since no one dared. Let me break the ice & get laughed at 1st. If there is an ECU for 525, just plug & play ler....but using 520 ECU to a 525 engine....

Why not try to run with your current ECU 1st, later on try to borrow 525 ECU from members and try it out since it's just plug n play.
By that way you can see how much is the different.

Just my opinion...

anyway Im keepin my options open and wait for the sifus who I suppose are sleeping right now to wake up. :D

Lionel Ko ko...yes I agree with you buts its just that Im gettin confused
bcos one sifu (you) say like that and another sifu say otherwise. :dunno:

my mech say the samething like u...I mean seriously I think the same like u also..

I have seen a 525 converted engine with a 520 ECU before in my mech workshop and it runs fine. Not sure if with the 520 ECU it is running at optimal performance but confirm it runs.

Of course if you can get a 525 ECU it would be the ideal. Well since you already have the engine why not try using the 520 ECU and see how it goes. Then borrow a 525 ECU and compare if there are any difference in terms of performance. Oh and don't forget to update us lah on the result.

I heard another forummer mention the other alternative is to use the 520 ECU but put in a superchip. That should boost the performance levels to a 525 or more ECU. Good luck...

Hi XXX, can you PM me how much did you pay for the engine, service and installation charges? I am still keeping my options open.... kena racun sendiri. :nyehehe:

If this is about the m20,then yes the m20b20 ecu can be used for the m20b25 engine.it runs just fine.full potential......i don't think so. :D

They are few more problem to solve other than the ECU. If not mistaken, 525 come with catalytic converter where 520 don,t. 525 using the digital 'high' dashboard with check control where the 520 using the 'low' dashboard. The ECU code is different with a single digit ended 172 and 173.

The full potential of 525 will not be acheive. The car may feel lighter because the engine will not be under stress as 520 engine due to the capacity is bigger.

You may use the ECU first then look around for 525 ECU. Ebay will be a good place to look for. 325 M20 Motronic ECU should be able to use as well. The connector is the same with 88 pin.

By the way, the 520 gear box may not be able to take the max. torque of the 525 engine. You shouldn't remapped the chip on the 525 ECU.

Aya XXX,

Very simple lah, i got one 525 ECU for sale....................
.........RM30K...........................come with whole car !!!! cabutz!!

and some more with smaller rims..................tyres cheaper than yrs!!! :D

(PS : mine no catalytic converter)
