E30 rear Antiroll Bar

installed rear antiroll bar for my e30 last nite from 9:30pm till 11:30pm, in the rain with the help of flashlight , wut to do, kenot tahan olediparts: u need antiroll bar (mine from 325 model, .5" roll bar), 2 swaybar links, 2 rubber bushes and mics bolt n nuts if u dun hav in the package.procedure:took me 2 hrs from start till i finished my bath, mind u i nvr seen how its mounted to the car b4. remove one side of tyre, i removed the rear LHS,

excellent dude! Thats a nice mod. I've dun it too (not DIY though), relatively cheap but amazing effect ....

was told that bigger bars increase the effect but also need to increase moolah..... the m3 ones are not significantly bigger so getting them may not give you bang for the buck.... need to go after market lah e.g. IE (like Kev and fabian's... maybe elwine osso have), eibachs etc....

Hats off to you, Skin .... :blink:

I watched my mech install mine and it took 2 guys with the car on a hoist ..... it's darn difficult especially bolting on the bracket (part #3) over the rubber bush (#2).

Actually..it's not that hard to install.

Step 1 - Send car to mech shop, pass all relevent parts to him.

Step 2 - Go for a drink, buy "the Star, NST, Malaymail".

Step 3 - Read all the articles.

Step 4 - After 1 1/2 hrs....call mech to check status.

Step 5 - Pay and collect car.

is original e30 come with rear anti roll bar ?? Or u have to add it ?? if add how much is that cost ??

Anti roll bars only come with the e30 325i, so the 318,320 and 323's dont come with it.

The cost depends on the availability, cos these bars are very hard to come by.

Can u really do that? I know a number of people here want it. Used is difficult to get. Most E30s only come with front anti-roll, no rear. Mine was like that. So in most cases need only rear to complete.

Used rear BMW anti-rolls are becoming more diffcult to get since only few models have them e.g. 325. Aftermarkets are really expensive used or new ..... New IEs are almost 2k, eibachs are no cheaper. Heard the whiteline set is about 1.7k.

a good tip is to use PU bushes with both front and rear anti-rolls.... you get even further improvement :yes:

Oh ya.... what jeff said is correct. Anti-rolls are direct bolt ons.... even if your car doesnt come with one the attachements/brackets are already there.... just make sure you have all the bits and pieces....

What if i tell u i can custom made for u additional 3-4MM larger than original ARB and roughly cost u Rm600 ?? Wat do u think ??But for those e30 without ARB is that a place for u to fit in if i could only get u the roll bar and bush ??about bracket ?? how to lock ?? Lock where ?? These are the thing that i m concern about ....!!

I am waiting for my e36 rear ARB wat i did is that original size is 15mm i custom made it to 19mm should be ready by this saturday if everything goes well...

What material? I know so far only APM manufacture antiroll bars...

As for WhiteLine, they are the cheapest I come to know... maybe can ask Hokomoto and oso Pentagon.. they import Whiteline products... between 1,400 to 2,000 for front and rear... but for E30, it's not adjustable. 22/24mm front and 16mm rear...

Actually there are ppl custom made Anti-roll bar here... just that their bar tension rate might be different unless they use the same material as OEM or even better material will do....

wow....there's a lot of info here and very good responses from everyone....

But need clarification-

do different size roll bars require difference roll bar end links?

I know that they will require bigger bushes - so need to get the bush the fits that diameter size .... not too much of a problem I think hokomoto's super por brand have in many sizes but dont make rellay odd size one then may have prob sourcing appropriate bush....

If dont need different end links then maybe just get the bar and bush that means zenegers plan sounds really attarctive....

Kinaka has a point - eibach,, h&R etc make their from specifc material obviously picked for their qualities e.g. how stiff, strength etc. .... zeneger dude, what are the ultra racing's made of?....

There will be differences in design of bars from model to model.... which one are you making zeneger?

Whiteline is about RM1700 or something.... i maybe wrong ..... rm600 sounds pretty competitive but I think if can down some more it would sell better....
