if you ass me. Well overpriced.

Most probably underpowered, using 1.8 petrol engine with 3.73 ratio. Mine is same engine and 4.10 gear ratio, still, pick up is 0key okey only. Imagine 3.73 ratio?! you'll be dragging your "feet". Expect to fork out some cash on changing that.

BTW, just to give you a rough comparison. Mine also came with LSD and bodykit. I paid 17K. plus 3.5K on changing most of the moving parts, full service, until it was tip top condition. plus upgrading to Mtech I or Mtech II bodykit and new paintjob, still you are no where near 29K.

Dont' forget, you pay 29K today, tomorrow expect to spend another few K just on maintenance.

Without looking closer at this car, most to most, it can be offered at 20-22K plus nego.

I thought in some other thread, i read yours as M40?

So the m42 isn't that expensive/rare? I guess I had the impression that the m42 is hard to come by and costly to obtain

Overprice?...I dunno, but this car is using M42 engine from E30 318is..ask in the forum, how many drive E30 with 'is' engine other than famous Fabian? and don't ever compare with standard E30m40 with 4.10 open diff....
The owner is not from our club but he is a capable BMW mechanic & my friend...and regarding overprice...you may ask Lionel Koh how much did he spend for his E30m40 318i....
just a teaser..
During our Fraser Hill drive... in front is Master Kev..

I think I've seen this car at a corner-shop workshop at Aman Suria, right opposite a nice bak kut teh place.

to convert from M40 to M42 would cost RM6K or more.... Ori Mtech 2 bodykit probably another 3K, that is if it is ori PU and not fiberglass kit... but without looking at the car properly, can't be sure what's the real condition of the car.. If the car is tip top and no rust, it's worth having a 2nd look.. maybe can nego for better price...
However, the front seats are not BMW items, so a minus point for that if I'm the buyer.. :p But I'm not the one buying mah...

M42 with 3.73 LSD is workable since I had that ratio before on my E30 M42.. But the 3.91 would be a better match....

The M42 engine is one tough nut to crack... Can go for track days and outstation drives without much worry.. Drove down to Pasir Gudang for a trackday and then Spore and then back to KL without breaking a sweat... :p had lasted 7 years of abuse and >clocked 200,000km and didn't need special attention... Just routine oil service... but don't take my word for it, maybe I'm one of the lucky ones... :p

yeah, sorry missed that. M40 is my engine, correct.

So gear ratio should be just okey than.

Jason is from M-sport, some info about the car. M-tech is fiber and not ori but the car is really in immaculate condition, no rust, cold aircon and powerful. btw, you may opt for the ori seat as it is still with him. And as for the converted M42, go there and look into the engine bay, wiring done was such a beauty and the exhaust note.... hmm nice. Clean interior too, as for the dash, didn't know whether he have change lately as I know he have 2 no crack dash "lying" around his workshop. Good luck

It's better to get one and start building from scratch if you have 30k to spare...of course it wont stop at 30..hahahaha

So if I were for instance interested in this car,how much lower can I bargain with the pricing? Any educated guesses from the e30 guys here? I'm actually looking for one.

Also found another one,also a 91 4door but converted to M44 engine.Asking rm28k.Also a manual..

Hahhahahah............Dont mentioned it again ........

As i said b4 .....to get a very good condition E30 is hard and to rebuilt a E30 also not cheap .......

However , its normal for buyer always look for as low price as possible but sometimes u need to offer according to the car condition ........

M42 is a good engine to match with e30 .........

So those who interested with E30 .......Unless u got passion to rebuilt the car , if not better buy a good condition one with slightly higher price .......So long the price can be justify with the car condition ....then shld be fair enuf ..............:top:

I don't mind paying higher prices as long as the car is in good condition and well taken care of by the owner, what more with one that has been tastefully 'fettled'.
Any other comments from those who knows JCG6611?

Yes ......so long the price can be justify then shld be fine .............

If u intend to buy a E30 just for weekend drive , i will advice u got for coupe ....U will never regret .......The only problem here we cant find d facelift coupe so mostly those who bought the prefacelift coupe need to rebuilt the car.............i saw one 318 auto coupe year 1990 at Kuchai b4 but the owner dont want to sell it ..........

Good luck in ur E30 hunt ...............

If u dare .....this car shld be a great car to own ......

Thanx for the links Lionel.. will indeed try to check it out.

What do u think of the M44 engined car? Do u think the M44 is better than the M42? Not much in terms of power but the M44 has a bit more torque.

The S14 should be awesome but I'm guessing maintaining that engine is wouldn't be cheap.
