Uncle chan, the pits on my lenses are not very deep, the autosol i was told to try is actually for cleaning jewelry, such as gold and silber.... Since i have the whole lense assenble in pieces, better i do a get every thing all nice and polished before putting the parts back together again.

Yes I kno, I haff dem pits too just abt as deep as sandblasted surfaces so I doubt if autosol r brasso, will do anything worthwhile but dat's just my humble 2 cents, sorry to distract u. :D

no prob, will bring it to detailing sifu and let him advise......Calling Kev

You called? Brasso and Autosol will help to a certain degree but will NOT remove them completely. If you can feel the pits with your fingernails and they 'catch', no amount of autosol or brasso can help you.

Here's an idea, since you have your lenses removed, take them to a windscreen specialist (there's one a few doors away from Kanna Curry House in PJ) and get them to polish it. If they can remove wiper scratches from windscreens, headlight weathering should be a piece of cake!

AFAIK, glass polishing is impossible to achieve by hand. And before you ask, I have not been able to find ANY glass polishing componds in Malaysia(hoping that someone can prove me wrong on this).

My own opinion is that it is wrong era, more suited for newer bimmers.

As far as technical problems, you can't use the e36 or e46 version of the CCFL as they are too big. and since they are made of glass, you can't bend them to fit. LED versions are prone to burn out and it is impossible to replace them once you have resealed the lense without removing the whole assembly again.

My two baht. :eek:k:
