Hi guys, Need some advise. Just sold my second car an E39 and need to get a replacement car for the home really fast.Went to AB and test drove the E90 325i sports, a 2nd hand 330i. The 325i felt much better than the 330i in terms of control. The 330i felt really fast on the straight but did not hold as well as the 325i on the corners. Even the engine sound seemed better. The 330i only clocked around 11k km and i think it was used during one of the formula one events has it had the signatures of the F1 drivers on the dash. What i really want is the 335i but they had just sold one secondhand unit with low milage on it and to wait for new one is like 6months if I am lucky. Really need some advise has to which to pick in terms of handling. You guys all are Sifu's of BMW's. If Alfa... last time I knowlah but now I really need some advise. My current daily ride is a E60 525i. An E90 with the same engine would not be the same as the chasis characteristics are different. Am I right?

my 2 cents:

1) E92 M3
2) E90 335i
3) E90 330i
4) E90 325i

more power is always better...

Sudah 2tahun changelah bro... Ok M3 great but RM688k is way too muchlah... 335i engine is great.

If you already have an E60 525, just wondering you may want to consider the 130i if it's power and handling you are after or even Z4. Since you are considering the 335i, the Z4 should be in the same price range as well. I think.

As for the comparison btw 325 and 330, I think it's the 325 sport setup that made the difference in handling compared to to 330i. Not sure if the 330 has sport suspension as well, but I don't think so.

Happy shopping!

Since your daily ride is already an E60 525i, this other car should have the necessary fun factor. So, the 335i and 130i are good options. Of the two, I would go for the 335i. The E92 is a much better head-turner than the E87 (due respect) esp cos it's still pretty rare (except if you stay in Sri Hartamas / Mont Kiara since there are already 5 units based there!). If you can wait, go for the 335i. That engine is a blast with 5.4 secs, you're in a pretty serious league. If you need a car fast, go for the Golf GTi first while waiting for the 335i. To me, the E90 is just a smaller E60 and might be a bore after a while if you already have the E60. Just my 2 rupees!

That are exectly my thoughts mate. The E90 might be the same and bore me after awhile. Really like the 335i engine. Will talk to AB about it and see how fast they can deliver it.

Yes, do try to get your SA @ AB to get you the 335i asap. I had the same predicament as you earlier this year but my SA managed to get me my E92 within 4-6 weeks by checking on availability of ex-stock or trans-shipment units (which is solely under BMW Malaysia's purview, not AB). Eventually, I opted for the unit being shipped since it was manufactured in 2007 as opposed to ex-stock which were all 2006 models. I think this is relevant for you too now that its end of the year. Problem with getting the car fast is you might not have the best choice of colours. The engine will keep you more than happy nonetheless.

john,

just saw a maroon 323i E92 with beige interior in bangsar ...its just orgasmic!!!!

I agree that if you have an E60, the 335i will be a good choice and it looks fantastic!

However, I think the E90 330i you test drove has bad tires and thus the handling may not be as great when you drove it. I tried the same car a few months ago and I found the power delivery is so much better than the E90 325i sports. I was tempted to get it but I opted for the 325i sports due to the fact that resale value will be better (if I get bored with the E90) and newer car and better equipment list.

Ummm... that colour is not standard but only available as a BMW Individual package (I think!). If so, the fella must be some VIP since the Individual specs don't come cheap or easily. There could be more goodies inside.

Hey BMW9700, I just did a bit more research. The E92 you saw might well be in Barbara Red colour. It's the latest colour (as you might know, BMW is now introducing new standard colours every now and then to keep the range exciting). This means the E92 you saw is likely to be spanking new, just fresh out of the ship!

He is looking for one with 4 doors for family use as well. So Jaspal, its the 335i eh? good luck mate!

My quick take on the matter - how bout looking at the 630i as opposed to the 335?

335 is quite performance based no ? dont think your wifey would be hammering it down the straight for her weekly grocery shopping!
