any 520d owners here having installed the latest DTUK CRD-T+ yet?

The previous CRD-T garnered pretty good reviews from members and a dyno was done on an F10 with pretty impressive figures

A healthy on wheel increase of about 190-200 hp (stock: 173hp) and torque improvement between 431-480 nm compared to stock 370nm

More info here http://www.diesel-performance.co.uk/how_it_works.php

Itching for more power already....hehe

Hi Bro,

I see that you really have done up your car a fair bit. So, now to rechip... won't that void the warranty?

I've had this on my e90 320d before, it's plug and play. Before sending in for service, just unplug it and it's totally stealth. No error codes whatsoever

I've already ordered directly from the UK and should receive it this week.

Still looking for some nice rims, decided to go 19 inchers non RFT. Will bide my time on this one as the choices in the market are gynormous.

I read in the F30 forum that it can be traced via their diagnostic system. How much did the DTUK ship...err...chip cost you?

Dunno which posting you read but I assure you there's no trace whatsoever, from my ownership experience during e90 days.

My purchase is direct from DTUK UK with a special pricing for repeat customer so it's not representative of retail price.

Locally, one member by the name of Farul is importing it in on behalf and he can install it for you (which is not too difficult). If I'm not mistaken, he's charging $2200 for it but I read that the f30 facebook group was quoted $2050 for min 3 units group buy.

Edit: the intention in installing the dtuk is to improve the Low to mid range torque delivery as the turbo lag is rather obvious

Bro - If 520i can use the racechip I am interested too.
Can I join you guys to buy together pls?

Good stuff and a recommended upgrade. Eliminating the low to mid range torque lag on a diesel engine is definitely a right move and something I would do.

Unfortunately, the DTUK is only for Diesel engines. There's another tuning kit called racechip, I think and remembered it being discussed in another thread here or f30. You may have to search that out

Hi Kunta, thanks for the pricing. Will check with service centre if it voids the warranty. If no, I will get one. Probably organise a group buy. Thanks mate!

Bro, Don't bother to get it if warranty void is your concern because definitely 1000% voided if found out. That's why the DTUK is designed to be plug and play and removed easily so it is extremely important that you must remember to remove it before sending in for service.

Hi Kunta, Have appointment with the BMW service guy tomorrow at 830am. Will definitely check and let post the results of the discussion here. Will ask if there is any diagnostic reading from the engine that might show the horsepower & torque peaks since the last service.

Will definitely post the discussion here tomorrow.

Have given a call to my service guy. He says he will check on DTUK and advise if it will affect the warranty. Update as soon as I have info.
Thank you for your patience.

I remembered reading one of the 320d owner did a dyno before and after DTUKship..

Stock - 170whp, 372wtq (Nm)
With DTUK - 198whp, 432wtq (Nm)

A cool upgrade given the wtq achieved...but a good idea to check the max tq rating the gbox can handle...if not mistaken the stock ZF gbox for 335i can handle up to 600Nm torque...happy modding

Thanks silverbullet for the info.

Any F10 LCI 520d owners here has installed DTUK on their ride to share their experience? Much appreciated in advance.

I've received my DTUK before CNY. Too busy with yam Seng and Lou sang. Will do the installation after CNY. Besides, my car's only done less than 1500km, still officially before breaking in mileage.

Yes, the ZF gearbox is supposed to take a lot of punishment but from my previous ownership of DTUK on my 320d, you can use any map but don't tweak the settings to +30% on each map to avoid the risk of the car going into limp mode (if it does, reduce the setting)

I intend to just play with the individual maps and tweak it to a max of +10% on each map, which difference should be immediately felt already.

very keen to hear a confirmation on no trace in diagnostic logs. i'll be keen on fitting a racechip for my 420i... (in due time). :D

Used to install a tuning chip bought in Germany in my 520d but took it out before each service (quite troublesome), all 3rd party parts shall void the warranty, confirmed but not sure if any diagnostic tools will able to detect. Finally settled for performance kit installed at AB Tun Razak, waited for almost 2 weeks to order from Germany and left the car for 3 days as many parts needed to be replaced. Went straight to Sunway for Dyno after installation and result was 220hp and 480 torque, BMW quoted lesser than this in their website (was told to safeguard their sales for other higher cc cars). Never been happy, and surprisingly the FC also improved a lot, no joke. And anybody with expired warranty who wants to try/buy my tuning chip can PM me.

Yes, for the 520d, installation of the DTUK is not as straightforward compared to the F30 or e90 due to the need to remove the air intake box after removing the engine cover. Previously the common rail sensors were easily visible after the engine cover removal.

As for concerns over error codes during diagnostic tests, let me tell you what will likely happen. When you complain of any abnormalities when sent for service, the technician will reset all codes before trying to replicate your complaints that produced your code. This is because there will be lots of error codes during the course of driving and any competent diagnosis can only be done after a reset. In short, you will be able to get away pretty easily with this installation.

No complaints on DTUK installation voiding warranties due to detection as far as I've read
