dudes.... doing 220kmh, 240kmh with standard gear is NOT very cool.....

I suggest a full upgrade if you havent already done so e.g. tires of appropriate ratio/width/speed/load rating, high quality rims, after market sports suspension, anti roll bars, after market brake system (BBK or just better pads or better rotors etc)......

I am no expert but IMHO 160-180kmh is plenty fast already on public roads .......at >220-240kmh you are assuming PERFECT conditions which in real life is not possible.... the margin for error becomes very2 small.....

either that or I'm just a sour grape coz my car cant do 240kmh  ......... but seriously folks.....

guys my parents 528i 1999 model can do 235km plus... no problem...i am sure 328i can do 240..... easy.... by the way since i am collecting my 328ci this week............... was wondering if any one want to have friendly race..... use to race after 1 am... highway to subang to klia then sometimes klia to nilai..... superb road to test top speed ...uses to race wit my alfa buddys there.... so far two cars coming....an alfa 156 2.5 v6 auto and my 328ci...dont worry i am a very mature person.... :D .. just love the need for speed. thanks.
;) ...bro... if u r a matured and have a craze for speed..... then go for the track day event.... ...i believe it will satisfy u better than a "friendly race".... oh yaa btw.... if u still insist on trying your max speed to the fullest.... i think autobahn is the right place for u... dun forget to get me an autobahn tee if u r planning to go there...cheers... B) peace dude!!

:) i believe the e36 328i is more than capable of doing those kinda speeds..even our highways are ok for those speeds AT CERTAIN STRETCHES.the car the the asphalt can take it..

the only factor that wud decrease the safety margin at high speeds wud be the drivers on the roads..some drivers are just not safe.they are a danger to themselves and also to other road users.

so like i said, safety is a relative thing..there are so many variables to take into account and in the end its up to the driver to define his limits/boundaries.no doubt some people will say MALANG TAK BERBAU but even walking by the road u can be mowed down by some idiot in a huge lorry!! but wud u stop walking by the road?

tepuk dada tanya selera..

:) make sure u know what u're doing bro.. first and foremost check ur tyre rating.u never know cuz the car is recond and they can put any type of tyre on the car.

i used to do this also once upon a time..but not anymore,i've wised up!!!
but i guess u need to do it to get it out of ur system..i wud advise against it but who am i..

once again, make sure u know what u're doing..its dangerous stuff.

well said bro..... :eek:k:

:) no hal Mie,just putting forward my opinion..best thing about this forum is that most of them are matured enough to accept or hear ur opinion.

so kalau ada pendapat just say it out..

racing for fun : hiyo.. post the date and time here.. if the men in uniform in cars with blue-lights on top see this thread they can just wait at the published spot and nab us all ;)

240kph on stock car : depends on the car - 5 series have no problem - they inherently hv the longer wheel base, heavier body and stability to handle higher speed - I've taken E39, A6, A8, and I think a Volvo V70 somewhere at that speed - but all on the autobahn (real one) - and the German roads are really well built - no undulations or bumps.

Absolutely right - there's no margin for error... surviving a spin at 240km/h w/o damaging the car is dumb luck. Thus I'd only gone >200km/h on straight road, clear traffic on two lanes and in the dry. Again, good highways.

240kph on an E46.. now my 'friend' hasn't touched that ... simply there isn't a road in Klang Valley straight and EMPTY enough to do it .. and with enough running space ;) maybe he can try again on a nice quiet Sunday...

Stock E46 on 240km/h : I pretty sure it is designed to handle that as stock... just less stable and less able to handle corners, lane changes. Firmer shocks and wider tires may help. But my 'friend' has a bone stock E46. I recall hitting the brakes hard from 200km/h on a larger Audi ... the whole car shuddered and twitched like it wanted to go into a spin.. not funny.

Yup .. E46 328i can hit 240kmh .. Hv seen it .. (noooo .. I was not driving it ..)

E36 328i- have seen 240kmh oso - picture laa .. (nooo .. I was not driving it ..)

But seriously, with ur family on board, dun run like kena kejar setan laaa ..
Then again, 140 - 160kmh in a BMW - no feel .. I mean it doesn't float or bounce like if u are driving other Jap cars ..

I hv tried excessive speed before .... and live to tell. But I m not taking any chances anymore. Now - moderate speed only ...

autobahn osso certain stretches laa... not all the way.
khalidm3 - yup you're right.. it's a myth that all autobahn is speed limitless

only a small percentage of the autobahn are marked with the no speed limit sign.. that wonderful sign of a gray cricle with a diagonal slant - woo hoo!!!

535 once sudah tua the speed also like orang tua :D

:) yeah..very true.the great german autobahn is not all limitless speeds.
but u see,the infra is only part of the equation.the drivers manning the automobiles on the autobahn are also part of it..their road ethics makes it safe to blast at insane speeds there cuz no idiot will be cutting in in front of u at 90kph while u are doing 200kph!!!! :beaten:

in good 'ol malaysia it seems to be the norm..driving fast is like negotiating an obstacle course full of idiotic antics!!
