Hi guys, Okay, been driving my e36 for a week and notice that when it gets very cold inside, the aircond goes off. Is that right and does it have this feature? I was just trying to think on the bright side but my gut feelings tell me otherwise....guess i need to spend some money in doing it...please do advice me. Thanks. Regards

Not that i'm aware of.

Mine would switch to lower fan strength, and start blowing through the vents underneath the dash, but never off completely.

Time to visit aircond god Naidu behind Mount Shell!

Mine switches completely off, but have to turn off both buttons the aircon button and the recirculation button. then aircon will go off and just fan runs. or I turn off the aircon completely via the dial (I have the older manual one)

Thanks...

Hey guys...thanks for the tip. I guess its normal. Actually it does not goes off totally, but rather like Lee said, blow through the vents underneath dashboard. Thanks again.

Regards

guys, u mean it will automatically switch to lower fan speed when u select the "auto" mode? i am now using the manual selection of blower speed, so dunno if switching to auto mode will have the same effect or not. By the way, mine blower motor is faulty i guess coz when on low speed, it emites sounds like crickets :) anyone know how much it cost for a new one?

cheers

Mine is also on manual mode but gives out a horrible sound whenever it rains. AC Mechanic said it could be the AC belt but when he sprinkle it with water as usual no sound no nothing!

In the car air-cond(a/c) system when you select the temperature say 18degree C, when the cabin temp reach the selected temp, the compressor goes Off, but the blower remain blowing the air at the selected speed, the compressor goes back On when the temperature goes beyond 20-22deg. due to the heat (from your body, engiine, sun and etc) it keep on working that way until u off the blower / a/c or the ignition switch.

Bumping up old thread... my e36 air cond (digital) is switching off completely occasionally when driving... it'll be blowing air out nicely and it'll just stop... display lights and everything will still be on... i'll usually switch it on and off several times to get it started again but it's getting worse now... anyone had this problem before???

yours is terrible than mine. my car's aircond speed cannot be adjusted after 10-20 mins driving. stays at lowest speed. some say it's the aircond speed regulator but some say there's a clogged in the system. dono wich one. but i think yours is having the same disease like mine. try ask uncle google

i guess mine have to change that thing too. went around shops & find it costs around 300 bucks. but have two types; the usual one and the final stage. the final stage should last longer than the usual. and costs more.

i tried DIY but cannot open the latch holding the regulator as u need special type of screwdriver. hope these infos helped tom328

ezzo360,
Did some research online and found that it's known as Final Stage Unit on DIGITAL climate control units and Blower Resistor Pack on ANALOG climate control units... so it depends on which type rather than durability and costs... any sifu would like to confirm this???

Did a DIY this morning to take the Final Stage Unit out... anyway to check that it's faulty??? any recommendations where to get a replacement???
