anyone tried updating their idrive software via USB?

You can check if there's a new version out by keying in your VIN number here

Apparently, just download and plug your usb stick in and away you go.

And from what I read in the BMW singapore forums, new maps can also be updated via the same method by keying in an activation code, which can be purchased from a vendor in Sg forum for about SGD50

Just realized there's a new version for F30 328i iDrive software. UPD01008. Will download and test it out soon. Hopefully it will improve the stability of connection with my iPhone running the latest iOS 8. Download and test it out yourself guys.

Yes you can update the navigation map by downloading the latest map from the Internet and buy an activation code. However, I was told that the map file is huge and take a long time to download. Alternatively, you can get our club vendor Bimmercoder to it for you.

The link is no longer working. I tried it few days ago and still able to see updates. Any ideas?
