differentiate M20B20 and M20B23

anyone can tell me how to differentiate between these 2 engines? serial codes? external visual differences (for the engine)? they look almost the same, actually all M20 engines looked similar. Thanks!

I think the first 2 numbers at the engine number plate (not the engine no itself) indicates the capacity of the engine.

E.g: 23 indicates that it's 2.3. Correct me if I'm wrong.
