Hi guys, can advise me how to fix this scratch on my front bumper? Estimated cost how much and any place to recommend? I show the picture below to my SA from Quill, told me need RM1k to spray whole bumper.
I got this scratch while park my car, so i don't know who scratched it & how. Sigh, it's really a heart pain

As an alternative, you could try getting a quote from Chipsaway in PJ (actually just a stones throw away from Quill). My guess is that they should be able to do it for less than RM1k.

For RM400, you can have the whole bumper respray bro..
why border to touch up? And it's 100% "as good as new"
feeling. Can't say about touch ups though.

Anybody can share what is the reasonable price to pay for touching up of these?

Thanks to all who replied and recommendations.

I went to Quill, one guy not really good in talking or something, kept insisting me to spray whole bumper for RM900-RM1000. Kept telling me partial spray won't be same color and refuse to tell me the price for partial spray. In the end I asked firmly and he told me RM500-600 for partial spray and insisted it won't be same color and cannot guarantee me. Bad communication seriously.

So I went to AB Glenmarie and was told partial spray is sure same color and the price I got was surprisingly much cheaper. Hence, I just put my car just now and by Wed can get it. I'll put up the repaired picture here when I got my car.

As the affected area is on the lower part of the bumper,
partial spray should do the job nicely. Not very obvious
even with the lousiest spray job in town so no worries
Bro, you made the right choice.

Care to share the price you was quoted for the benefit of all?

I have collected my car, took 1.5 days. Price RM200. Looks absolutely flawless and like brand new. If I not lazy, will take pic and upload here

Wingzee,

That guy is correct.
If you want good results, always spray the entire bumper for optimum uniformity.
If you spray only a small area, it'll look great when you collect the vehicle but after sometime, you can see an ugly mark.
At that stage, very few Msian car owners will send the car to another place to respray the entire bumper. Most will just leave it alone and live with the ugly mistake. Pls get it right the first time, and you'll be a happy camper.

Look at pic below. This poor guy paid $250 to repair his front bumper and wanted back the car fast:motz: (the next day - classic).

But any good job will definitely not utilise pink putty. It's a cheap stuff that's easy and fast to work with.....common on cheap jobs at cheapo respray shops doing lower-end vehicles.

At this 1990s price point ($250), most sprayers will not do a proper, no shortcut job. If you consider materials cost in 2013 and the time constraint imposed by car owner, doing a good job in repairing and spraying bumper for $250 is sheer lunacy.

If you see any pink underneath your stone chips, its a clear indication that cheap putty has been used, and probably with no primer sprayed....indications of a cheap and fast job.

For a proper no shortcut job:
1. entire bumper should be sanded down
2. damage areas repaired
3. proper putty used and allowed to dry properly (critical).
4. Primer sprayed and sanded.
5. Colour coat
6. Clearcoat (must be HS...not the cheaper MS)
7. Wet sanding and machine-compounding.

Note: Flex-agent shd be added to clearcoat to increase flexibility as it'll help reduce future stone chips OR, he can use Dupont's stone chip resistant clearcoat.

This kind of job will cost approx 550-700 depending on extent of damage and takes roughly 2.5 days.

RM550-700 for a bumper with such workmanship is still pretty reasonable I would say. Learnt something new today. :)
