Mika, Sound is very subjective.
what is your expected level, better than stock? competition level?
Sound in car is made harder due to the difference in dimension of the cars and road and engine noise.
at the end whats good about bsw is it leaves more space. but there will be local options available for maybe cheaper and better?
shop around.
try checking with reputable installers
check in the ice sub forum.
choices like CV audio in damansara uptown is reputable. Peter has wide knowledge of ice and listens to user requirement.
i have seen him custom ordering for a ferrari a special 8 inch sub which is ultra thin due to space constrain.

expensive for what it does and i'd imagine shipping would add quite a fair bit. and something that size will most likely get the attention of customs at KLIA. definitely also suggest visiting one or two of the better installers in town and have a chat with them and think about what they propose. maybe update here for opinion on their suggestions. don't rush into it.

If you can find Infinity BasslinkII it's a compact sub but deliver strong and deep bass

the concern with local installer is that will they cut/modify many of my current wires? i like to keep it stock as best as possible. so far i know BSW only require a few cables to be cutted according to their instructions. u know our UDM is full of electronics i have heard story of simple modification that screw up the entire car and cost a bomb to fix. that just my worry.. does CV sound cater to bmw cars? peter u referring to brother peter shop at uptown also right?

You will definitely get hit with tax if you ship that into Malaysia. The size of the sub seems quite large so shipping would be around 300-400USD.

My brother bought a pair of rear tweeters for his M3 and because they used Fedex to ship his package, he got taxed even though the amount was less than the threshold.

This was because Fedex does not give customs the correct value for shipping of the package. They have a pre-calculated price for packages based on the volume which is absurd. They claimed RM200+ for a small package. Nothing could be done and we have vowed never to use Fedex again.

even for custom built, shouldn't need to cut any more than needed to install the bsw subwoofer. what's important is the choice of installer. tell them your concerns, questions, hear what they say, whether they've done it before, how they did it, etc before committing. CV audio is a few shops down on the same row as brother peter (corner shop) not the same. unlikely CV, KF or any of the better installers would mess up something like adding sub and amp e39. they do much more complex installs on various more modern conti cars including bmw. they'll probably be able to show you pics of their work.
