BMW 116i 2006 car...still under warranty. Wonder what's the market value now? Thinking of upgrading. Of course to another 1 series...thinking of the 120i  Btw, for a 5-door, is 118i the most powerful one?

The 118i engine is a 2.0L and has similar horse power to the E46 318i, that's why they are called x18i despite running a 2.0L engine... which is I think 143hp. and of course, that's more powerful than your 1.6L la. 120i is 156hp, then u have 130i..

For more comparison: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BMW_1_Series

Used car price for 116i I guess its about RM120k kua..

i was told the ECU for the 118i can be re-mapped to increase the horsepower.
Perhaps the 116i ecu can be done the same? Have ya consider this? :D

118i is easier because its already a 2L engine but the 116i is just a 1.6L engine wor.. I remain skeptical on the performance gain even if the remap exist. SSS (Suzuki Swift Sport) 1.6L still confirm can makan u la. :D It can even makan the non remap 120i. :D

I dare not test drive a car that's strip down from a 1.5 Swift, size up with a set of 1.6 pistons and stroker kit, while handling was tuned on the track, by GT race car driver in Japan, sold for less than RM100k, MANUAL!!.. I scared I lose interest in BMW... :p

Do you guys think that there'll be massive different between the 116 and 118?

Imagine driving a Gen2 then transplant it with a Perdana engine.. :D

If you plan to use the 116i for strictly city driving, keep the car. Get a 5 series for holiday and cross country touring to complement the 116i. The 5 series doesn't have to be brand new. This is just a plan. You can think about it.

well...
"massive" is subjective.

I believe the 118i has the same engine as the 120i & e90 320i. But it is detuned to differentiate the specs & so on...
