ok.. but where does the gearbox ECU gets its signals to operate the gearbox control... And in this case of transplanting an E39 gearbox into the E34, can the wiring match up?

the e39 box is totaly different from the e34.. different software, etc..

for the e34 and the e36 the system of wiring is the same, only one wire to the ecu which can be unpluged, as for the wiring, the e34 runs a separate wiring loom, hence easy to separate, as for the e36, the wiring loom is together in the loom...

ok. so that means for e34 transplant 5sp gbox is feasible. for e36 not recommended. by the way, i think the 5HP18 gbox already available for e34...just like june yap who has done it.
