hi guys.......i'm newbie in this forum.... :) i'm just curious about something regarding body conversion from e46 sedan to e46 m3. will e46 m3 rear and front bumper fit to e46 sedan??another thing is.....can i fit e46 m3 fold mirror to sedan as well???is it possible or do they need some modification?look forward from all bmw sifus here......really appreaciate for ur help....cheers

Hey there,

Just what i know, the front bumper may fit but the back will not. The m3 came with larger rear fenders. But i have seen one guy here with the m3 conversion on his sedan. 4 tail pipes and all, but you should know that the m3 came only in coupe form so if you did a sedan m3... we'll it would stand out a bit. The mirrors will not be a prob.

Am sure someone who knows more will be along soon to help you out.

Cheers.

I dun think you can fit the bumpers since the M3 is wider. To convert you would need to chg the fenders also. More details & cost you can check with Obermaier Jln Ipoh. Dun think for 4 door its possible. However, there are some after market makers that sells M3 lookalike.
As for the mirrors no problem to fit it in a sedan.

yeah...i now that original m3 is slightly wider than sedan or coupe.but i'm planning to get an original m3 fender from ebay uk.but the only problem is to make a wider on the back.do anybody have an idea?

Actually the original mirrors wont fit as the door mount for the coupe is at a much narrower angle. The ones you see on the sedans are buatan Taiwan.

so,do u mean it almost impossible to fit m3 mirror to sedan?
nothing is impossible. I'm sure there's some aftermarket M3 mirror out there for the sedan... I think there is...

M3 this, M3 that..the real question is, is there going to be a REAL M3 engine? all show n no go then malu lah when the boy racers wanna burn some tyres at the lights..

fuhrer....then,what is gonna happen with wira with evo engine?its not gonna be MITSUBISHI EVOLUTION either right?but they try to be but the point is all the money......if i have some money...then,i dont need to waste my money for some conversion.i think it does happen to everybody.isnt it?by the way,i dont even bother for boy racer out there that wanna smoke me.........there is no point of winning......or do i get sumting for that???

Dude

This is my personnel opinion. Some coupes has done this conversion & cost is too much. The front fenders is easy, the rear you cannot use cause it simple, yours is a sedan. Unless you cut the fender but then again it would look funny cause its not smoothy flowing due to rear door unless you re align those.
Only way for you to do it is to fit an after market kit made for the sedan. If an M3 look a like is really waht you want then better to buy a 318CI & do lor since performance is not a priority. After market M3 mirrors will fit the sedan not the ori ones.
At the end of the day, the cost involve & the headache will make waiting for an ori M3 price drop worthwhile.

... and whatever you do, please don't sitck a ///M badge on something that's blatantly not?

Saw a black e46 318i in the UOA carpark the other day with the "2.0" badge, the "318i" badge AND a "///M3" badge! Wow!

I wonder what effect the person's going for?

FUIYO!!!!!!! Scary!

hahahaha....3 badges at the same time?i will not do that...dont worry....ehhhmm....i thought it just easy to put rear bumper on sedan......by the way......on my oppinion, beemer 320 or greater is more the less have less power than jap car....even if u modify ur car.....seen m3 e36 being smoke by silvia s15 b4 at b3.but,i'm not sure if they just play around......anyway dude...thanks for the info....

dude...if i not mistaken 318 is stand for 2.0/2000cc right?but there is still no point to put m3 badge on it....correct me if i make a misake.....

hi,
Actually im thinking do the same thing as well. And I did ask at BMW dealer in UK. They said, this time M3 model will not easy to copy. Not like E36 model. Just do the conversion. So if anyone wants do the conversion, they need to do a BIG change. Thats no be easy!

So after that, Im thinking twice to convert my e46 :)

For E46 year 99-01 318i has only 1900cc and 02-05 has 2000cc. And doing a conversion is not as easy as they say, coz M3 has more wider front and rear fender, so it won't fit on any E46 saloon model. But there are few aftermarkets customized M3 bodykits for Saloon model now. Hm, By the way E46 does not has a M3 Saloon model. So, Most people will stick to M-Tech 2 bodykit.

I guess the Munich guys have done well this time in prohibiting wannabes! i hope they continue to do so with the e90 & make it even harder if its in the coupe form...
