Confusion...does e36 ever comes in double vanos engines?

Hi all, Was confused after chatting to a friend just now. As i always thought there werent any double vanos until year 2000, i seriously didnt know that e36 does have double vanos engine, and just to confirm with you guys here, do they?? Regards

M52TUB28 was introduced in 1999. It's basically a M52B28 with a technical upgrade (hence the TU). One of the upgrades the engine received is the double vanos system.

Also the Euro M3 (S50B32) has double vanos.

unless its a CBU unit, the CKD ones didn't come with any

or unless engine transplanted from later models

Our local BMW dealers brought in the lowest/cheapest range of 36 those days comparing CBU units which has many extra's. ie; dual airbags, 5 speed GB, sunroof, 18 button OBC etc etc ....

For our local market, the only e36 with double vanos is the formidable M3.

Can if I'm not mistaken. Some of the last few batches of E36 in the US came with that engine I think. Can't be sure tho need sifu to confirm.

Ah my bad. I always thought the later models had them. Seems only the z3 has it.
