Hi guys, just a few questions. I collected my car from Ingress Damansara yesterday and my headlamps fogged minimally following the rain. I also hear rattling sounds coming from left side near the door or the seat which is present when I drive over uneven roads. When I asked my salesman about the fogging of the lamps, he says that apparently it is quite common.
What do you guys think?

Is it a new car? It's obviously not common and if I were you, I would screw the salesman for good. Do you think it makes sense to design a car that rattles and expect it to be normal? If it's a proton maybe but a BMW? Don't think so.

Yup its a new car. Anyone else experienced this fogging of the headlamps issue?

That's very interesting. The fact that it's new, shouldn't be rattling at all. I'm collecting mine tomorrow from ingress Damansara as well but being a BMW owner, I don't think any of these symptoms are considered normal.

Hi Ray,

Mine's the same car, but 2012 so it's not new like yours. I don't notice this problem but maybe it could have been solved by the previous owner.

In any case, I don't think it is acceptable for BMW to say "it's quite common". If it's quite common, more reason for them to fix it before the car reaches the customer. The car's original price is RM420k. How can they be so cincai about these things?

Cheers!
Mervyn

Hi Mervyn, I was perplexed myself with the response given. I am gonna call up and ask again. Otherwise the car drives like a dream.

You should give them a piece of your mind if they are still giving silly answers. This is a BMW and you spend a lot of money for it. I wouldn't tolerate such replies for sure.

Hi Mervyn - i got the same model as yours last year. The fogging part will gone after few days. As for the rattling sound, based on my previous e60 exp was due to the contact between door and body of which it was resolved via the 3M tape that is not visible to the eyes. But i got similar rattling sound quite recently which i need to check with AB jln tun razak soon.

Actually I really dislike those rattling sound. My E60 is an AP which is assembled in Germany and never had such rattles. Not sure if the local assembly is possibly contributing to it?

I'd ask the sales person if that is the official corporate answer, one that BMW is willing to standby or just a b.s. answer to avoid resolving the issue :)

I read up about this problem and apparently the fogging goes off after some time so I am not so worried about it. As for the rattling, I still need to trouble shoot. The car is currently being coated and a protective film is being applied. Can't wait!

These fogging will eventually cause stains inside the headlights. Unless BMW is willing to change a pair for free then I don't see it as an issue.

My 3-er has been rattling since day 1.

I'm surprised they don't test each car for rattling prior to giving them to the customer, but its up to the customer and BMW dealer workshop to get them fixed. All they need is a track with cobbled roads. Watched how cars are manufactured on discovery channel, and each car is driven around a test track to see if anything wrong/rattling, etc. Now that is QC.

We are not buying a cheap car. Yours is a F10 somemore. I would get really angry but I gave up long time back. W205 seems very nice.
