Clarification

Dear valued members,I recently bought a BMW model 320i, E36 and i'm not very sure about the transmission speed. When i check with workshop some says 4 speed and some says 5 speed. I'm confused, could some one advice me on this.Thank you.

LOL P, R, and N are not speeds....

basically you can check by reading the speed on the speedometer and compare it with the tachometer (RPM). There is a slight gear ratio difference between 4 and 5 speed gearbox at high speed.
