I am looking for photos of Charles Kwan's ex Schnitzer BMW E30 M3 that I think he raced in the Guia race at the Macau GP in 1990 and maybe 1991 If anyone can help and post up photos that would be greatI am also looking for a copy of the actual Guia race program entry list for those years as well. Can any please help with that. Also any general information about the car's history (chassis 128) which I now own would be interesting. Thanks

try to contact Eddie Koay of EKS Motorsport.....if not mistaken he was managing Charles Kwan then..

thanks XXX, I have sent an email to EKS. I will direct it to him specifically

This is the car at the 2009 Phillip Island historic meeting in the Group C/ Group A race with Glenn Seton driving

Lucky you! Where is the car now - Malaysia, Zhuhai, Thailand?

Hi guys
No luck with replies from EKS or Eddie Koay. Maybe it is because of language problems. I emailed in English.
I wonder whether anybody living in the vicinity of Eddie Koay could give him a call. I need something like a fax or email from someone involved with the car at the time verifying the racing history of the car inorder to obtain CAMS Certificate of Description. (Australian equivalent of historic papers)

I have learned that Charles Kwan obtained another BMW M3 DTM from Schnitzer in January 1993 so I presume he raced my car up until then.

i would be grateful for any help in building up a list of the races he did with it.

Also I am still desparately looking for photos

First of all, using english would not be an issue.

Anyway, I spoke to someone from EKS regarding your case. Apparently, all the relevant documents were given to the buyer when they sold the car. So they did not have any documents regarding that car in their hand. And also the fact that they have moved office a couple of times, so even if they had photocopies of the documents, it would have been shreded since the car is no longer in their possession.

He also mentioned that the car had changed hands a few times after EKS sold it. So documents might have gone missing along the way. U would need to trace back with all the past owners..

Thanks very much Fabianyee for speaking to EKS for me.
I will chase up the other owners that I can identify. The car went to New Zealand in 2001 but unfortunately the owner did not have much in the way of documentation.
I wonder whether EKS are able to say in an email that they managed or prepared the car for Charles Kwan (if that is the case) from 1990 to end 1992 and that it raced in Group A events in Asia and maybe mentioned a few races such as Macau Guia. That would be enough to ID the car for the Certificate of Description for historic Group A racing then all I have to do is find a photo of its colour scheme at the event and restore it to that livery. What do you think Fabianyee after having spoken to them
Thanks again

Maybe you can email them again asking for the photos and list of races entered.. Try writing in concise manner and in point form. Straight to the point - easy and fast to read.
However, they may or may not have kept what you wanted. Maybe you can entice them that you are compiling the records for the registration and also a website for the car with special mention of EKS Motorsports... ;)

This is a follow up on the car. Eddie Koay was quite helpful but I had to travel to Hong Kong/ Macau to do further research. While I was there I walked the Macau GP circuit which was very interesting.
Here is a short Group A history of the car.
BMW E30 M3 Chassis no. M3-1-128

1. Built February/March 1989 by Schnitzer Motorsport in Germany from a BMW Motorsport shell.

4. Sold to Hong Kong race Charles Kwan in July 1990.

6 November 1991 Macau Grand Prix.
i. Group A Guia race, Charles Kwan Team Take One, car no. 21, grid 15, DNS

7. November 1992, Macau Grand Prix.
i. Group A Guia race Team Take One, car no. 7 DNF
ii. Group A Macau Cup race, Charles Kwan, car no.7, pole position, results place no.1

8. November 1993 Macau Grand Prix
Macau Cup Group A race, Team Over Take, Charles Kwan, car no.11, results place no. 1 fastest lap.

Japanese Touring Car Championship Group A

I do not have the details of the JTCC but Charles Kwan tells me it raced in the series over several years.
Note that Charles Kwan had 2 BMW M3's for the Macau GP meeting in 1993. He won the 93 Guia race in a Schnitzer DTM he had purchased that year. My car has no DTM history, only group A.

I will post up a series of historical photos. Unfortunately I will have to sell the car so I can afford to start a new Group A touring car restoration project
