Cars from UK using student AP

Kwwong99 .. before this I heard that the current government will make a review of the AP, so in your opinion, what the government's decision will be made and whether the decision would give an advantage to people who are interested in buying imported cars?

In M'sia, automobile and many others policies and politics are interwined and it doesn't matter what my thoughts are here. There are plenty other forums to voice one's opinion but certainly not in this BMWCM forum. Well, you certainly have violated our forum Rules & Regulations.

No condition on car brand and model as far as I've seen their requirements...

In this scenario (Student AP) the car must be owned in the UK for at least 9 months, thats a requirement. Meaning you can buy a new car, keep it there for 9 months with that student and then bring it back with him.

That is one of the critical requirements in applying for Student AP.
Excise Duties is left to Custom's jurisdiction (very very hot topic nowadays..3B). It is learnt that the newer the car and the bigger the CC...the higher is the tax.

Yeah the price is so appealing but be aware of the insurance cost too. You'll be surprised, especially for non UK driving license holder. It's gonna cost you a fortune.

haywire, so in this example, the total is actually cost of car RM75,000 + RM102.9 tax = RM177.9k?

Mine is a 2003 E30 530i...its cheap these days. I bought it for GBP5,300 (RM27,500 back then).

If you buy a GBP15,000 (RM75,000) 2009 325i, tax for 2000-2500cc is ~~171%, Kastam given a price of RM60,197 so

RM60,197x 1.71 = RM102.9k

After a bit discount I can safely say the tax is around RM80k~90k mark.
