Hi All Sifus,Seek some advice from you guys.... I've been noticing my car making some noticable whirring sound like a 'woooooh' kind of sound and this only happens when the car is slowing down below 100km/h... no sound when I accelerate to 100km/h but after exceeding 100km/h and I release the fuel pedal for natural slow down, the sound will come when it slows down to about 90km/h and I can hear the 'woooooooh' sound for a short while and the sound goes away after the car slows down below 80km/h. Have any of you encountered this before? Not sure what I can do here... I got my mechanic to sit in with me and he heard it too and he said he'll try oiling my wheel bearings during next service but that's like 6000kms away :( Hope u guys could share ur thoughts. Thanks.

I had the same noise and it was my front wheel bearing. I left it for a while and changed it last week when it got unbearable.

But mine is an E39 530i 2003, yours is so much newer and wheel bearing should last about 150,000km so not sure whats your problem. Just to share my experience.

Something is resonating at certain revs. Likely to be a wheel bearing, but in a previous car my problem was worn engine mounts. Once correctly diagnosed, the fix should be easy.

Thanks haywire... maybe it's a faulty bearing? Anyways my car's mileage is about 25,000km already now. Will definitely keep this in mind. Cheers.

it happens to my e36 last week. I can clearly hear the "woooh" sound when speed reach 60km/h and above. To confirm the noise was related to wheel bearing fault, jack up the car, hold your hands on tire and rock it back and forth. If there is a free play, then mostly the wheel bearing has to be changed.

btw, your mileage is only 25000 km, it sounds not logical the lifespan for wheel bearing.

hmmm..... i do have it too on my e90 325 lci, but it comes around 60-90kph. both when soft accelerate and slowing down naturally. its very noticeable but somehow it is very hard to reproduce when the mechanic is in my car. even worst, there is a soft whistling sound too when i do soft acceleration so that makes two kind of noises when i do soft acceleration. its driving me nuts, but not sure what i can do. every single time they say that i have to leave my car for few days, but not everyone can afford to leave the car for few days. haih....
