hello you guys,I want to dupicate car key for my E36. Just in case as I am going to oversea for the next 2 weeks. Wondering If you guys can suggest any shop in KL that can do this? Also, is there any shop that can duplicate the key and have BMW emblem on it as well. Also, please advise the RM.Regards, :D

You may just be able to do it locally as your car does not come with ESW. Otherwise you would have to order from Germany through BMW Malaysia.

Got myself a new key from AB sungai Besi. Now for E36 they can get from Singapore for just RM280 but it took them 2 weeks.

O.K now I understood the tech aspect of the key and appreciate bimmer more than ever.

Can someone release to me AB contact# or homepage?. RM280 is worth for my bimmer.

Regards,

Good this is that I can expect the keys to arrive within 3 working days.

What's a service key? Just to open the door?
The service key opens the drivers door and starts the car. It cant be used to open the glove box or the boot (trunk for americans)

So like for valet use? How do I tell which is the service key? Any distinguishing marks?

Apologies for the deviation...

Got my replacement keys finally!
Tested both keys; the master key and the service key have the same uses: can be used for ignition, door, glove compartment and trunk as well.

How to tell the difference?
master key comes with plastic head and light button
service key only has plastic head (!)

Hope this info helps!

Err... bro....

I think u got the spare key (plastic) coz it works the glove compartment and boot(trunk) as well.

Service key only opens the driver door and starts the car. This key is given to workshops and valets, as u can still keep yr valubles in yr car without removing them everytime u use valet service.
