Salute to all sifus....Need ur brilliant opinions here...Last nite while driving back from Tg Malim (going back to Gombak), my exhaust pipe broke into two parts. It broke exactly before the catalytic converter, and the catalytic converter with the rest of the pipe (till the tail pipe) was actually being dragged on the tarmac for the whole 70km journey..!!! Not to mention the horrific catastrophic sound it made...btw, i drove around 70-90km/h throughout the journey...So i need to find out few facts due to my unwanted experience last nite.... Here goes:1. will the engine be afffected or damaged?2. has anyone actually bypass the catalytic converter? (took it out) and are the side effects running without the CC?3. can i remove it and put a straight pipe as replacement?Thanx much guys

hai bro..mcmana ble jd la..hehehehe ....answer for ur question bro...

1) nop ur engine will be fine.....
2) yes u can delete the cc n no side effect as my experiance even my engine 325
3) sure can but u will be the donnor to the dity enviroment heheheheheheheh

yo Yat...
camne bole jadi? coz it is a 19 yr old UDM....kalau amoi, dah bole kawin dah...hehe

Thanx for ur answers....very quick response...
what bout fuel consumption? increase ke without the CC? Nway the CC is darn heavy...can save few kilos by removing it..
what bout the sound? will it be loud? or juz a bit louder than standard (with CC setup)?

If yours is still auto, you will need a certain level of backpressure. else your fc will go go high high high :p

if manual different story abit.

CC main function is for you to be mr green. Environmental friendly. other than that no other function. more people i know have their CC removed :p

Sound it mainly controlled by your backbox.

better check with your local exhaust shop. :)

cheers

if i remove it, i still have the cat back...so i assume there is still some kind of backpressure.... or am i wrong?
I am more thinking of the weight i might reduce if i remove it.... but mine is auto..!

Increased Horsepower
Cars that have their catalytic converters removed experience an increase in engine horsepower. Catalytic converters create a significant source of engine back-pressure due to the constrictive effects they have on exiting engine exhaust gases. Removal of catalytic converters from cars allows exhaust gases to exit their engines much faster and at higher levels.

Better Gas Mileage
Since catalytic converter removal allows for exhaust gases to exit a car's engine at increased speeds, engine back-pressure is reduced, which lessens engine strain. This reduction in engine back-pressure and engine strain enables an engine to work more easily, and thus reduces fuel consumption and increases gas mileage.

Lower Engine Operating Temperature
Since removing a catalytic converter lessens the burden on a car's engine by enabling engine exhaust to vacate the engine more easily, a net effect is a reduction in engine operating temperature. The more easily an engine functions and the less work it has to do results in less friction, less load and, ultimately, a lower operating temperature.

More Fuel Options
Cars equipped with catalytic converters run only on unleaded gasoline. Lead-based gasoline, which produces more power and better engine combustion, quickly destroys the inner catalyst materials of catalytic converters. A car with no catalytic converter will be able to run on a variety of lead-based and/or high-performance fuels that would not be possible with a catalytic converter.

Healthier Exhaust Sound
Catalytic converters operate like car mufflers, whose sole purpose is to muffle the sound of exiting engine exhaust gases. Although catalytic converters burn unburned exhaust gases exiting an engine, thus making tail pipe emissions cleaner, they also further muffle a car's exhaust sound and bestow a somewhat timid, tempered exhaust sound. Without a catalytic converter, a car's exhaust sound becomes a little louder, a little deeper and more distinctive.

Boy,

From my limited experience, if you are running auto, backpressure is even more important. If you are manual then straight flow all the way hehehe :p

Thanx Slyder....juz curious, wouldnt the cat back provide enough backpressure? coz i still plan to keep my cat back...

sifus....
what say u? so how bout auto GB going catless? will still keep the cat back though....
Advice needed.
Thanx

thanx bros for the advice....
tapi gua ingat bole reduce byk kilo woo...still havent done anythin yet
