hi everyone...i'm driving a E28 and i'm planning to respray it... so any good suggestions on where should i go...and i was also thinking of getting bodykit before i go for the spraying...so i don't really know details on how to do this..need some help on where to get it...can i do both at one place? how much does it roughly cost? mmmm...and just any other suggestions on it... anything else? would really appreciate the help...thanx

You could try my regular paintshop, PRO-GARAGE. The results on my car and ichiwan2's ride should bear testimony to the quality of their work.

I also know of a source that can provide a fibreglass copy of the E28 M5 bodykit if you are serious.

PM me for details.

Cheers!

IMHO the only bodykit that looks good on an E28 is the M Tecnik one. However they are rare and I have been quoted 2-3k for a geniune one, if you can even get hold of it. Then you'd have to get at least 16" rims for the car to look right. So all in, 4-5k before spraying costs.

Unless of course you are talking about the fiberglas jobbies. I would advise against them, too brittle.

As for where to go to do respray, I am sure the resident experts will soon chime in, or do a search of the archives.

As for respray costs, anywhere from RM2800-3500. On the other hand I know of an E24 Alpina currently undergoing a bare metal respray (scrape off old paint until bare metal) that takes a few months and costs RM8k.

You pays your money and you takes your choice...

Nobody wants to know where taxi get re-sprayed lah! :nyehehe: muahaha

Looks like the flower wants to be poisoned! E28 M-tech stuff quite hard to find, but normal parts like doors, fenders, bumpers can still find.

Bodykit
Original equipment are usually best in terms of quality of finish. You might be able to find them at some of the spare-parts shops, such as Bomin or CSS. The owner of CSS has an e28 527e with Mtec bodykit. Both have a lot of new old stock.

Alternatively, go for fibreglass - my experience with Bumifibre was not good. The finishing by Bumifibre was unsatisfactory and the did take too long to rectify. Even then, the work was rough. Fortunately, my painter had good fibreglass finishers. I am sure other members will chip in with their recommendations for fibreglass fabricators.

Does your car have a lot of rust? Check the floor boards too. If yes, I cannot recommend my painter. If no rust, I probably can.

PM me if you need details.

Know in the sense that he is my main parts supplier/procurer.

AFAIK, he does not, now, want to sell his e28, after he changed the calipers to e32 calipers. Braking performance is much better. Then again, I suppose if the offer is good enough, he might take up the offer.
