It has been always the case where car lovers like us hoping to find a workshop to send our beloved UDMs to people who cares and knows these babies, but always the case we end up with Butchers and wannabees. some downt even have the correct tools or even to understand the fault codes from the GT1. what a heartache. After spending lots of $.. still no solution and most of the time causes more damages! other times, have to wait for parts for weeks where we can mail order it and have it in days either from UK/Germany or singapore. So many times we look for custom job to install some goodies and no one will be interested to do it, just because they do not understand it and say.. "tak boleh lah.. BMW manyak Kacau oh!". How many times have we heard that! even just to retrofit a HID.Cars has been my passion for all my life and DIYs, Mods and fixing details are my passion. I am growing fonder of my UDMs.. and in this matter any good rides.. everyday. And I am tired of the rat race i am in. I have been talkign to a few good mechanics, real good sifus from AB and CC to join up to set up a joint where all our bros can hang out, either to fix their cars or teh tarik talking about their rides. Since i have most of the diagnotic tools, special tools, rotary port and polishing tools, mandrel benders and even a compressor in my apartment already!I have done complete restoration for my E39/32/38 which i think its one of the best work around so i do know a thing or two about BMWs now.Imagine a shop of 2000sqft of work area, complete with Gearbox Overhaul, AFR tuning, 4 jacks, Old School "thread and tape" alignment, 300sqft waiting room with 42in LCD, Xbox, coffee machine, WiFi.And a BMW for you to drive if you are in a major repair which going to take a few more days. Do you guys think it would work? If there are supporter from the brotherhood, i am seriously considering doing this.Ciao

Alan,

I am sure bros here will give you the fully support provided your mechanics are experienced and competitive pricing for parts & labor. BTW, where do you plan to have the workshop located?

I would like to participate...wholeheartedly>> May contributed as well....let get few members in and have serious round table discussion...Best Price, Best Service and lepak place with GOOD AUDIOPHILE ROOM...

It's a good idea bro... But yeah where's it gonna be? Any place in mind? Sounds like a plan...

Bravo..... good idea....will give u full support bro.....just let me know where and when.....

i am touched by all your responses. Let me get a few things sorted out and will do a TT after CNY and seriously plan for it. I will write up a small business plan and lets see where it goes.

On the mechanics, only the best will be under the roof. Mechanical, electrical, diagnostic, suspension & ECU remapping.

I will be attending some BMW after Market workshop soon on performance, chipping and general maintenance.

Thanks Again

Alan

All the best if you do press on with your plans. Thread and tape alignment is truly a lost art these days. My current tire sifu is the only one I've seen around in the few shops I've visited that still uses the tape to measure alignment.

any idea where it should be? LOL.. i need 3000sqft min. High Ceiling. Clean surrounding.

USJ1 industrial area has got high ceiling lots. Not sure how big they are though.

Else it's Chan Sow Lin area. Sunway also should have the kind of space you require.

I'm from Ampang.

Hi Alan,

I like your idea and plan. Hope it would kick off soon! I have the benefit of chatting with you when I test drove your 528 and you took us for a drive in your seven! Truly impressed with your knowledge and passion for cars and not forgetting good food!

Cheers!

Go for it bro! As for location, please consider members that lived outside KL for easy access, like near to the highway..not so jammed( err like MRR2,sheez....my fav mech is at Pandan Indah lol!)

Alan, good thinking on this plan!

Reminds me of "Juzz for Cars" auto-enthusiasts crib in Singapore. Exactly to the description of what you have in mind. Ground floor has all the auto maintenance stuff going on i.e hoists, mechanic's paradise & tools, a dyno rig and on the 1st floor, you'll find 2 flat screen LCDs showing car related stuff, a PS2/XBox console, trophies, couch and beverages....simply heaven for car enthusiasts.
