Only for US market where the last remnants of stickshift purists remain ...

Can one even drift an auto car properly? Will the gearbox hold the gear and not upshift?

Any RWD can drift. Just that normal auto boxes (with torque converter) need a lot more horsepower to get pass the "liquid connection" in the gearboxes. Semi-auto single clutch and dual clutch shouldn't have that problem. Modern auto boxes have more complex sensors that can tell when the car is going sideways and prevent the gearbox from sending you flying off the road into a tree.

GameR ... what I mean is the upshift ... in manual the driver can hold the gear till the engine blows, in auto mode, the software will shift it. So I wonder ...

I think modern gearboxes nowadays don't simply shift up to protect the engine. Its too dangerous, especially if someone is burning tires sideways or not. That they leave it to the rev limiter and will only shift up if the vehicle speed sensors on all four wheels are reporting the correct speed.

If transplanting the manual tranny from USDM F10 M5 to local F10 M5 is feasible, I start saving $$ today :4:
