Its been a month since I took delivery of my F10 M5. Been a bit busy with my work. The car have clock about 1800+ km.
Getting use of the car, need to reach 2000 km before can really push the car. However with RPM not to exceed 5500 RPM the car already cruising at about 170 km/h, not supposed to exceed that speed as well.
First impression, the car not that great. Apart from the usual gadget it has 3 setting:
1. D-mode: Drivelogic setting at 1 bar, engine dynamic at efficient/comfort, EDC at comfort and servotronic at comfort as well.
2. M1 mode: Drivelogic at 1 bar, engine dynamic at sport, EDC comfort and servotronic at comfort.
3. M2 mode: Drivelogic at 2 bar, engine dynamic at sport, EDC sport and servotronic at sport.
D-mode good for slow, leisure driving. In M1 mode its just like sport mode in non-M car. Coming to M2 mode when the car feels at its 'best'. These was the initial impression before I start changing the set-up. Ater some time got bored because the reponse was not as precise and fast as the M3, return to M3, feels the power and handling of the M3 is much better.
Then when got free time start fiddling with the setting. Change the M2 mode to MDM mode with the drivelogic to 3 bar (max), the engine dynamic at sport plus, the EDC at sport plus, the servotronic also at sport plus (all at maximum setting except the DSC still maintain, no guts yet to completely off it). In MDM (M-dynamic mode) there is a message displayed that DSC is deactivated. Actually after reading the manual found that the DSC is not completely deactivated but will intervene later allowing some tyre slippage. With these new setting now the car feels so much better, real M car... You can really feel the G-force pushing U back on fast acceleration. The only thing that bothering me now is the fast-lane change. The car is heavy that makes the fast-lane changing a bit slow, not as fast and as fun as the M3. The response a bit slow compared to the M3. May be also due to the 19" wheel with higher side wall compared to the M3. I wish they have put the 20" wheel instead of the 19". Will need to change to the 20" later, the double spoke 343M forged or ACSchnitzer Type V forged. Most probably will go for ACSchnitzer since very interested with ACSchnitzer bodykit.
So used already with the Akra on the M3. The exhaust sound on the M5 is OK but not to my liking, and it is 'artificial'. Been listening on the youtube of the Akra on the M5, thats what I want. Waiting for the Akra to arrive in June.
That's all at the moment. I'll update more later after the car reach 2000 km and have maintenance service done.
Regards.
