Hi guys, just saw this today while I was 'lepaking' around Central London....looks quite good don't you think so??? I was stunned when I saw it coming as it looked fiercer than the E90...wouldn't want to be 'tionged" by one for sure. Surprisingly, there is also the latest Volvo S80, Volvo Coupe with the folding steel roof as well as the latest Audi TT with the huge front grill...lolx..too bad I didn't manage to take any pics of those as they zoomed past me..Has Naza brought in any of the E92s yet?? It's really a must buy!!!:D View attachment 561

Interesting thread about the E92 M3. Talk about flaming!

Casually asked a guy I know in Naza the other day and he hadn't heard that they would be importing the E92 anytime soon. I think most dealers would reckon it would be too pricey after the tax to get any decent volume in this segment.

Stepping OT a bit, I'm not that familiar with the BMW setup here. Do any of you know what AB's policy is towards servicing grey or direct imports? Are they like C&C whose policy is to service all-comers even if not imported/sold by them?

No one has any idea? Y'see an ex-car importer told me that now that he's not getting APs anymore, he's moved his focus on to other businesses, but he's still retaining his car import staff. Hard times and all that. As they know the ropes, they can help with imports by individuals who can still get single APs for their own use. Therefore, the option to get a dream car like an E92 at an affordable price is there, if one has relatives in the UK where one can park the car for a few months before importing it as used.

The issue is spares and servicing by AB. I know there are lots of independent shops that can handle Bimmers, but their work can sometimes be hit and miss in terms of quality. Does anybody know if AB will service cars not bought from them? Dealers of some marques won't.

Saw an E46 coupe a few days ago and it was awesome. So the E92 coupe would be a dream car worth dying for!

It'd be quite cool to go to the UK for a holiday, specify a car, buy it and register it to a sibling. Wait 6 months and get the guy here to tropicalise it and bring it in for you used (for a fee of course)

Sorta DIY European delivery, y'know? :D

We will have problems getting AB to service cars not bought from them. My brother face this problem even with the mini cooper that he bought from Cartrade (BMW dealer) instead from them. I think Cartrade is no longer their dealer now.

It seems like priority is always be given to cars bought from BMW Malaysia. AB will treat their own customers better than those who bought from dealers. So.... imagine what will happen if you are buying it from their dealers or grey importers.

Dang!

Thanks David, I suspected so. That's so shortsighted of some distributors. C&C has a stated all-comers policy, which has encouraged all manner of imports of MB from grey to individual because they know C&C will take care of their cars too. What's wrong with that if it gives C&C more service and spares revenues AND puts more MBs on the road ?

So out goes my DIY European delivery ideas for an E92. I have many relatives in the UK I could call upon! :(

What about US delivery :D ??

Yeah, we'd certainly get a better deal from the US and you could hold the E92 for us for a few months if you promise not to go above 3,000 rpm. Only problem is you guys drive on the wrong side of the car and change gears with the hand we use to type smses while we drive. No good lah!

Normally AB will tell you that they do not have the software version for this particular models, dun have the spare parts for this particular models, blah blah..... etc...... whenever you send them cars that not from them. Giving you a lot of excuses for not accepting your car.

But those grey importers will tell you not to worry as they are capable to service and repair the cars, no need to send back to AB.

Yes I agree they will tell you that David, but the problem with that is that quality is never consistent and spares are always a problem because let's face it, their business model is to import and sell cars, not service them. That importer friend simply closed shop when he couldn't get many more APs. Even a good Bangsar workshop set up a separate specialist Merc and BM workshop in Shah Alam a few years back but closed it when business was poor. It would be worse if you import direct, as then you don't have cover from either the official or grey importer.

Unfortunately, AB have us by the b*lls on long term service and spares.

on the contrary, the service advisor in Glenmarie actually requested me (i didnt ask) to submit all the documents of my car so they could proceed and do a full inspection on my car.. if everything is well, they could then accept my car for future servicing and warranty..

some teaser shot from a meet I co-organized on Oct 22....49 cars (E90s, M3s, M Coupes, E92s. A full write up as soon as I go through the hundereds of images from various sources....

Interesting....tell us more about your car and experience with AB. If we can be sure they will provide service and spares for non-AB/BMWM imports, then that opens up many possibilities. There are lots of ex-car importers and their staff with nothing to do, now that access to APs have been severely curtailed. They know all the ropes, and can help with direct imports. At least that was the impression one of them gave me recently.

Nice pics, KL2DC! Love the look of those dark Bimmers against the fall colors... :p

My friends and I planned DC Metro II exactly for that reason....weeks in planning, but it paid off.
