my e46 sometime gear warning light turn on,after i restart the carthen it disaapear, but come back every month, everything gear changinglike normal,Any sollution !I thinking may be the gear oil already need to be change every 100000km.The original gear oil is using Esso-Blue oil(important).Rm680.00 for 10 Litre plus labour.

Bro ,

Mine is E36 - had similar problem before ......

Have you done a modic test ? it will show if there are any error / fault .
For an E36 , the error can be reset / erased .
Do this 1st & if the problem persist , change the ATF - it's about time anyway .

If it happens again too , could be the ECU - faulty / intermitten . That's what happen to me . Changed the ECU ( 2 year ago ) - no problem till today ( touch wood )

Good luck !

I thought i read somewhere that the gear oil is lifetime?? I found that hard to believe, but i guess its not true?

this issue has been debated for years in many forums, many of our forumers change it without problem including myself, u can only feel improvement after changing. Do u believe ATF fuild can last lifetime? But mayb 1 out of 50 might face problem after changing (i think that is just coincidence). just change it but make sure its the correct ATF for your gearbox.

Mouse ,
Well said ! I do change mine . It does not really cost an arm & a leg - why risk it .

Cheers !
