Hi, as for those who don't know me yet I am in the UK, but will be going back to Malaysia hopefully this August with my car. Been in the UK since September 2003. My first two cars in the UK were Rovers, the first one I ran till its death with a blown head gasket, and the second was close to its end when I sold it. My third car was a BMW E36, bought in 2007. I have been a BMW hardcore fan for about 10 years but just dont have money to own it yet. So that E36 was my first BMW. Didnt give me any problems for the 20 months I owned it though. Isi minyak jalann...full service according to schedule is normal.I used to obsess about E46s but then I had a family and reconsidered the size as I found 3 series were too cramped for my use. My father had a Mercedes W210 in Malaysia (he is a Merc fan since like, forever) so I have been driving that around for a while and doesnt feel its too big. (I am a very small person, FYI). So in the end decided to go for the E39. Really preferred the E39 to E60 since the E39 is old school like with its low front, and the E60 m sport is still around £14,000 here (I will only buy factory M-sport)A month ago I found out that I'll have to go back to Malaysia this year, so quickly bought an E39 to bring it back with me. Been researching about the car for a while, so I already know what I want and what to expect. In the end I went for this particular BMW, a 2003 E39 530i M-Sport Individual Aegean Blue Edition (Only 150 units made :D). It even had 18' M-Parallels and 16:9 sat nav and tv unit, which is sort of my requirement for the car.Enough of the words, these are the photos now:

Now will take any mp3 player input. When I bought the car I was too excited and didnt realise the car came with the pre-facelift headlights, but a fellow forummer pointed me out to that issue. So I have bought a set of genuine Hella Xenon Angel Eyes and have installed it to my car. So far all the work has been done by myself (DIY), which includes:1. SMG steering wheel with paddles retrofit2. Cupholder retrofit3. AUX In retrofit4. Hella Xenon Angel Eyes, with aluminium adjusters fitted by myself5. Update Head Unit software, which includes sat nav update. now showing the GPS maps in perspective mode.6. 7000k white LED bulb for the angel eyes (although i feel that I didnt really like it, might revert back to the original BMW bulb with amber colour angel eyes. (Bloody thing broken after barely a month, now reverted back to amber angel eyes)7. AV adapters to allow video input through the head unit8. Reverse Camera9. Pixel display repair10. Extended paddle shifter11. Aluminium cluster rings12. Black kidney grills13. Retrofit rear electric blind14. Retrofit side blindsThings on my list (updated as of Feb 2012):1. Front splitter2. Restore front driver's leather seat to new condition3. Aluminium pedals with M badge4. Quad exhausts (I dont think I'll have the money for this now, but its in the list - maybe later)5. E60 M DCT gear knobI have also bought the BMW scanner tool by PA Soft, version 1.36 that will allow me to run diagnostics on the car. The TV is only working when stationary at the moment, once the car is moved the screen turn blue with only audio sounding. The scanner tool will enable the TV in motion but I havent got round to doing that yet. (DONE)Any comments/ observations? Original advertised price £6500, went down to £6000 then went down again to £5500.

I managed to get the price down again to £5300 with a new set of key ordered by the dealer (£5300 for 530i - hehehe)

BTW a new key here costs £103, which is about half price what it costs in Malaysia (just heard somebody ordered a new key for RM1100!!!)

nice looking car there ....

are you bringing back the car via a student AP ??

Good bargain there, Brother ! Enjoy your new ride....:top:

I got a quote from Kastam that I have posted in another thread a while back..

The customs just got back for me, basically a 530i tax would be 193.15%, and 525i tax would be 171%.

They got their formula for calculating the import tax. They have a standard price of the car when new, and they apply 10% depreciaton each year plus some more if they feel like it. example: 2003 car, now 2010, so 70% depreciation, and then 10% off from that and if they like 10% more to get to the actual price you paid for the car (its a bit hit and miss)

BMW 530i M-Sport c.c 2979 tahun 2003 Harga Pound 27,258.00

- 15% 23,169

- 70% susutnilai 6,950.79
- 10% 6,255.71
- 10% 5,630.14

x 5.5708 ex rate RM 31,364.38
+ Insurance 1.5% 470.47
+ Tambang 1,700.00
Jumlah RM 33,534.85

x Kadar cukai 193.15% RM 64,772.56 (import tax)

Basically the quote they gave me is just a rough calculation/quote. There are many other factors such as the condition of the car to be considered, which is why I'm leaving the rust on my front hood until after I go back. From the research that I have done I am expecting to pay not more than RM40k for the import tax after appeals possibly as low as low 30k but you never know. We'll see hoe it goes once I bring the car back.

hi there bro..there's one on ebay selling for £300 plus £15 shipping...I'm not sure how the E60 paddleshift system works though..might be different

See here http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/BMW-E60-E63-SMG-LEATHER-STEERING-WHEEL_W0QQitemZ320496791154QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM?hash=item4a9f18ee72

Thats a lot cheaper than the steering that I bought..probably close to half price. Anyway just to let you know that wheel on ebay is a SSG not SMG.

SSG: Same on both side left or right paddle, push to go one gear down pull to move one gear up (or the other way round, I'm not sure)

SMG: Pull left paddle to go down, pull right paddle to go up.

This is the connector that you need, already there for you to plug in the wiring loom at the back of the HU. Note that this retrofit is only available for post 09/2002 E46/E39.

Retrofit wiring connected. At this point it is already working, but I need to drill a hole somewhere to put the other end in (the one I'm holding). BMW suggested that the other end is installed in the glove box, but I'll keep my ipod in the centre console so why would i wanna do that? Decided to install it in the centre console

Aux In successfully installed!

4419111937_cb668d8469_o.jpg

My current set up. That holder is actually an FM transmitter, but due to poor quality and annoyances with the local radio station, and turning on/off due to the design of the pop-up cigarrette lighter I used the AUX-In through the fm transmitter instead. Much better audio. And the location of the iPod there is perfect for me to control it while driving and not distract me too much. Preferred the iPod control over any control through the BMW system anyway, its so much easier to search and find songs.

My next ICE project: Install an RGB input to play video from my ipod/portable dvd player through the head unit!
