Hi all, first of all I would like to express gratitude for anybody willing to share and teach me everything there is about BMW, particularly E30. I really know really close to nothing, very naive about cars, not to say about beamers.I just fill in the gas and ride. The only thing I know about bmw, particularly e30, is that the car is fast and the car is strong! So I hope by joining this forum could give me at least knowledge that can revive and maintain my dad's car.I am no new user of E30, as I've been driving it since 2004-2005 (ini kereta bapak yang punya). Previously it was totally maintained by my dad since 1985, I think now its time for me to take it over and maintain it (taking over not by hijacking it, I mean taking good care of it).My dad has maintained every single thing in this legendary car as standard, except that this year he changed the suspension (absorbers and springs, in which I do not know which brand and type), and also replaced the cracked dashboard with another e30 dashboard.I do not know if this thing that I will bring would be a general thing, but my dad's E30 have an internal originally built in siren (It was said that the car was originally a german police patrol car, it really sounded like a police siren). So when my dad installed the new dashboard with a normal e30 dashboard, the siren wont fit in.So now let me start off with a piece of knowledge that I know about my dad's car:1) BMW E30 323i Inline 6 - 19852) 60 litres fuel tank capacityIssues that I know happened with the car:1) Very low idling rev that always cut off the power - My dad overhauled the engine and solved the issue in 2007 (this is the first time he overhauled the car, as far as i know), but could no longer or really hard to reach 200km/hr speed. Can I know how to fix this? 2) The steering wheel is really tight (it was said by my mum that my dad brought the car over to a bmw workshop in KL to solve it but it became worst).3) The idling now is still below 1000rpm when idling, with air-cond ON. could it be the throttle body?4) The car is really kedarah minyak. The only thing I know that the ekzos is bocoq. Other than that I do not know any idea. 5) Asap putih when heating the car - could it be piston rings or head gasket?Sorry, you guys must be really tension when reading basic things like I mentioned above, but I am really stupid/not knowledgable/naive about cars especially bmw's, just know how to ride. Hope from here I can get at least one or two things that at least can make me maintain the e30, hopefully for long. I really sound like Takumi Fujiwara(but dont know how to drift), just drive, but do not know about the car. So I feel it is a waste if I did not how to take care the car as it is still a legendary car, at least I know about this. Thanks and I hope for your kind and generous knowledge.Affan- Langgaq-Melbourne-Langgaq-Kulim
