Hey folks,Is there any way we could add a bluetooth module to the radio? I'm not talking about the add-ons where they add some stuff under the armrest, but an actual chip, plugged into the radio so that it integrates with the car's radio/menu screen/active steering wheel controls? I've asked around, even AB but they seem to always recommend me the armrest version. And some say it depends on luck, coz it comes with the radio? But I'm sure there is such module, rite?I was driving the E90 in Melbourne last month and it had that. It's very convenient. It pairs up automatically to my phone as soon as slide the key in. Anyone know where I can get it?Secondly, does the interior rear view mirror, with automatic gate controller + compass work in Malaysia? How do we programme it? We're thinking of getting one if it works, 'coz we're kinda fed up with having to keep buying replacement remotes. At one time, the housing was broken into pieces, but we still used it... and yes, just the circuit board and 9v battery hanging! :pThanks alot!Shuks

Check these links out - they can all be done, but will it be too expensive for your pocket?

For the oem bluetooth,

For non-oem bluetooth integration (I'm getting my brother in the UK to find out if installation of the Parrot CK3100 is DIY-able)
http://www.parrotbluetooth.co.uk/
http://www.driveblue.com/

For rear view mirror/compass/remote,

Hi pkw88

Thanks for the links. They're really helpful. Didn't know there were such thing as realoem.com Just one thing - How do we order the parts from them? There seem to be a column which says "Shopping Cart - No items in cart" but I can't figure out how to put items in the cart, let alone order them. But the site got me hooked, spending hours trying to figure out the things I could fit on my car.

The non-oem's are cool, especially the one you're interested in. However, I'm looking to make use of the car's radio/display system to its optimum, to reduce clutter, etc. But I'm considering the parrot for my CRV :p Have you checked out Nokia's stuff? Theirs is the n616 car kit (see below) and if you have a 2nd line, it can even operate as a standalone by inserting the SIM card into it.

DVD System & Forward/Reverse Cameras for the E90 costs RM20k at Auto Bavaria! Apparently that's after discount. Geez!

Cheers!

Is there really a need for Forward/Reverse Camera for an e90 afterall it's a small car unless.... we are talking about MPV ?? Not worth it at all with the cost of RM20k!!! Killing pricing.

i-mob and more

I'm getting my 325i tomorrow ... a few questions

1) has anyone fixed the i-mob system before? It costs around 4k but the technology is pretty impressive. Not sure if it can be custom fitted into the e90 without cutting any wires.

2)Rike Cool tinting looks so far the best and the price advantage. Has anyone tried this? It's around RM1750

3)Run Flats - where is the cheapest place to get it other than AB?

4) my car is black - i had a e46 which is blue before and it was prone to scratches. i have heard of protectors, does it really work?

5) any other gotchas for the e90 325i...the good stuff which is not made known until you explore the car :)

ShuksE90: realoem.com is a useful resource to look up required BMW part numbers and availability of parts. P/n in hand, you'd then consult with your local BMW parts department (AB or not).

pkw88: Great response...I've nothing more to add.

Keep in mind that with OEM bluetooth module retrofit, your SA will still have to program the module in.

There was a thread over in e90 forum. A guy DIY-ed the iPod connector then got the BMW garage to reprogrammed the on-board computer. Didn't work. The computer wouldn't see the iPod interface. Turns out they had to do it the other way! Reprogram then install. Best to check with AB if you get someone else to install the bluetooth.

I wonder how much that mirror/compass/remote cost! Would be nice to have! Two less remotes to carry and/or lose.

pkw88: The issue with the i-pod connector is that they found out (the hard way) that some cars lack certain 'modules' - due to varying levels of equipment, pssibly non-BT equipped cars- that needed programming before the MOST can be fully programmed to integrate the ipod connector. The solution was to install those hardware modules and then proceed with the necessary programming. The ipod connector is still pretty new and the various dealership's service department experiences vary from incompetent to good, hence the teething problems. A lot of folks are doing the 'wait and see' until everything is sorted out. The ipod connector is definitely DIY-able but its the programming that's worrying.

Didn't know what it was. Did a google. Not sure if the E90 really needs i-mob, the standard anti-theft measures are pretty decent. About the only way to steal the car is either to tow it away or by car-jacking. Besides, if they really want your car, they will always get it.

2)Rike Cool tinting looks so far the best and the price advantage. Has anyone tried this? It's around RM1750

No info, sorry

3)Run Flats - where is the cheapest place to get it other than AB?

No info, heard some members recommend singapore distributors.

4) my car is black - i had a e46 which is blue before and it was prone to scratches. i have heard of protectors, does it really work?

You're talking about the 3M clearbra. That's protection against rock chips etc. On a black car, I'd recommend routine waxing/buffing. Always hand wash your car and be careful when drying (use MF cloths only or air dry).

5) any other gotchas for the e90 325i...the good stuff which is not made known until you explore the car :)

Must have accessories, I'd recommend OEM Blacklines on black/dark colored cars. I also recommend the sunglass tray retrofit (replaces front ashtray, more storage space) and the dual rear power outlets rerofit (if not already equipped).

Kewl! Are you getting the Limited Stock CBU from AB or the CKD one? It's RM20k cheaper than the CKD. I wished my parents had taken up that offer. For an extra RM30k on top of the 320iSE price, you get a whole lot better specs ie. 6-cylinder engine, etc.

Enjoy your new Ultimate Driving Machine! :p

Regards,

Shuks

i'm getting the CBU..it's just a few hours away :D
AB mentioend that the 320i are all sold out..CBU

No prob...

Congrats on your upcoming delivery :) What model/color did you get?

If you can get some pics during delivery, that would be great. Kinda curious to know the delivery process of BMW AB on the E90s...

For mine, the delivery process is very very simple..... The SA just call and ask whether I need to go over to collect the car or they deliver the car to my doorstep. That's all. When the car reached me, the SA spent half an hour explaining everything about the car to me.

I heard from a friend of mine that the delivery process for Volvo is much more special. They will get the buyer to stand in front of the car for a picture before passing the car to the buyer. This sounds great :)

it took my sales guy 1 hr to explain every part of the car! truly facinating! :D
