hello sifus i was just wondering where is the best place and best method of cleaning a BMW's engine. some car wash like CARS use a lot of silicone after washing the engine and i think its bad coz the silicone may slowly migrate and contaminate our MAF and other sensors. not only that...over time the silicone will accumulate dust & grime. any advise would be appreciated....thx

i do envy some forummers cars with sparkling shiny engine bays. i can imagine the time and hardwork put into this. but for the reason's mentioned above i never washed my engine, only blow dust wt air gun and a dry wipe after... but it will never shine or look like new... also afraid water might cause some damage in future.. phobia wt sensors in our cars.. but so far touchwood..all in good working condition..

ESS, best is do it yourself... i wash every fortnightly... half a day's job...

with toilet brush(ikea), baby bottle brush and a toothbrush... with sunlight or glo soap.. it works..

before the water, spray wd40 of equalv. at the sensors...

happy cleaning...
