Bro, M-Scope is the specialist for this. They once quoted me 5k all in costs for rebuild of GB, inclusive of the ATF cooler, with 1 year warranty.

5k for all this? That is cheap.

Are you sure? May I know which BMW model are you driving?

They charged me RM 6.5k for rebuilding my 5HP-19 for my E39 2002 back in June 2012... And no free ATF cooler of course.

That was what I was informed by Mr. Tan of M-Scope when I brought my E46 over for GB checks in May. Not sure if they same charges still applies nowadays. May reconfirm with him again? Gonna do my rebuild soon.

RM5K is about right, I was told (parts) just cost about 2k balance are labour charge

Thanks anaksarawak. I though my 330 original came with it but i m wrong. Coz my previous E36 got it also my E39. Will try to DIY it by using part from E36

Bro anaksarawak, this aftermarket ATF cooler is air-cooled instead of water-cooled? Stock E46 ATF heat exchanger also doubles as ATF heater.

Was once told that it is the same as per E36 and E39. Do they share the same air-cooled ATF cooler?

I presume the heat exchanger design is for European countries where you have frozen cold winter and ATF suffer from extreme cold. In Malaysia we need super cooling performance. Hope sifu sifu can advice how much it cost to get it done and where best

Actually try shopping around. Coz if i am not mistaken in terms of oil cooler fins count and size, the cheaper alternative might be looking for mitsubishi oil coolers.
Yes dont laugh mitsubishi oil coolers especially those for the 4x4 are very good. I have mod added them to all my previous car. Even my dad mod this into his harrier and prado. But of course they are air cooled.

I totally agree with you, those oil coolers fro Airtrek were installed into my previous Toyota incl current Lancer, but it was oil cooled, not air cooled btw. The transmission never gave me any problems even after the cars were sold!

So any place in Subang that we could have it installed??? Whats the damaged then?

Bro,

whichever can reduce the ATF temp from 102c-107c down to 80-90c is the winner of my choice! I willing to install one with fan if possible LOL!

So it's oldskool air cooled radiator versus modern water cooled heat exchanger.

Hehe... with fan means you are loading the alternator and battery. Best use both air + water cooled, hose out from the water heat exchanger, connects into an air cooled radiator before return to the tranny.. sure best! If pasang fan, only switch it on when spirited drive la. :4:

You have ATF temperature gauge?

Good tip there.. I shall ask if my workshop willing to do so.

Press your trip button for 2 seconds till it show "test" then quickly press till 19 and release for 1 second then when it show on/off press again till it show "7" that's the temp

By the way I also have INPA :)

That's engine temperature la or coolant temperature, not transmission temperature la.

19.00 is where you unlock the menu and 7.00 is the Coolant Temperature.

No need to put fan la bro... cari yg nipis sket than put antara radiator and condensor aircond...just like original.
