Sifus,I am thinking of replacing my stock air filter with either K&N cone or drop in or aFe cone air intakes.Anyone can advise among the 3 types, which one is the best in the from the point of pricing, and performance.Cheers.
 
Get a drop in filter as the stock bmw airbox is designed to draw in fresh air outside the engine bay unlike a cone filter and it's designed for maximum airflow. :top:

The main reason why one would wants to get a cone or cylinder airbox like BMC CDA is because of sound and it sounds really good :D :love:
 
Unless you everyday tarik until rev limiter, else its pointless to get open pod filter. K&N Drop-in is best for overall.

Some had claim better mileage, HP & torque! Anyone verified this statement?

K&N never claim any better mileage compare to stock new air filter.
 
New filter is as good as K&N, and filter better.
My car came with K&N filter when I bought it... so I don't know if it acutally perform better.
And if it does, my butt won't feel the 2hp differences. :)
 
Would a drop in air filter like K&N affect engine life??? i was thinking since it allows more air in, more "stuff" can get inside the engine??? also, does it affect fuel consumption??? for this part, i was thinking since it allows more air in, same power with lower consumption due to more air??? blur... oh ya, what's the difference between cone and mushroom filter???

yes i feel the differential, and if change the throttle body with bigger manifold and highcams
really made the different.
Try it.

You changed your throttle body with bigger manifold and highcams?
 
and all the sifu...please recommend me...which one is better K&N drop in filter or open pod air filter...by the way my engine are 325 (M5025) manual....

drop in will do ....for open port you need to farbricate the shield ..unless you get those BMC ones .. yet that comes in 2 variant ..local made which cost somewhere around rm900 and the ori one around rm 1300 ~ rm1500 ...
 
D answer is just simple....

1st ....ask urself....wat u want ???Better acceralation ? Better mid and high end ???

2nd .....understand d advantage n disadvantage for each items.....ori intake system always give better acceralation but lose up at mid n high end ...Open pot always give better mid n high end but reduce d pick up.....good filter like BMC CDA is combine d ori n open pot...bear in mind d BMC also using K&N filter.....

3rd....wat hv u mod to ur car??? Standard stock???performance mod like cam? Exhaust??? If still standard stock....drop in still better .....if oledi modded...u might need higher air flow for ur car....another main item is ur car is auto or manual....if manual then open is just nice cos u will not lose d pick up but earn lot of mid n high end...
