I understand that this issue has been discussed in many threads before but thought I put a summary for the benefit of others who may experience it. (Many thanks to Mouse for his recommendations) IssueEven though the "re-circulated air control button" is activated, I can still smell exterior air coming into the cabin. SolutionSeal-up the air vents with sponge. See Naidu (behind Shell, Jalan Gasing, turn left after KWSP Federal Highway)Cost: RM 30 IssueNow everytime start engine, need to press the "re-circulated air control button" either at the air cond panel or steering wheel to activate the re-circulation mode/close the flaps. SolutionRe-set to default ie always at re-circulation mode upon starting of engine. See ‘Ah Meng’ at M Speed, USJCost: RM 20

Go towards Giant next to
Summit, USJ..

When u see Giant on
ur left @ traffic light (T-junction) - turn right head towards a row of factories on ur left, u'll pass Rio de Futsal, a furniture wholesaler and a kedai potong along the way..

Turn left at traffic light when u reach Wisma Texchem (on ur left again), go straight down, first right turn and follow the road which will take u to turn left at the end...

u'll see M Speed on ur left...ask for Ah Meng or John

German, Excellent info! Thanks. But I am in Penang and will have to educate my aircon mechanic to seal up the air vents with sponge. Can you elaborate more on how to do this so I can regurgitate this info for my Penang mechanic?

You mean there is a programmable setting for defult recirc at start-up? I didn't know that...good info. I hate it that y e90 always reverts to fresh even with the car/key profile settings...

I'm not expert but I'll try to explain here!

I will try to share what I observed (don't kill me, Ok!) MOUSE, please help here....

1. open the bonnet, then remove the two housings (left & right) which holds the air cond micro filters
2. this will expose the air vents/flaps and you will be able to see the opening/closing of the flaps
3. cut sponge about 6" x 3' to fit the air vents

That's about it!

KL2DC,
Yes, looks like it. I did mine. Pay Ah Meng a visit

yes, ask someone to help to ON and OFF the air-circulation mode button and u observe from outside to make sure your flap is closing and opening correctly after u remove your microfilter (this is to ensure your flap is working, coz if your flap rosak cannot close no point put the sponge also). use a double sided tape to stick the sponge to the end of the flap (after that when u close the flap u will notice there is no more gap so smelly cannot come in)

Was at M Speed today. Did the auto lock and aircon to recirculate.

Always annoyed with those two functions

KL2DC, I am not sure about it but the AB salesperson told me it can be programmed. I have yet to check it out. Will try to bring my e90 and program it and will let you know k.
