Sifus,Last 2 days i noticed when i on the a/c there is a "duk duk" sound coming from Aircond. Wondering what is that. sometimes got sound sometimes no ?? Wondering what can be wrong ? :dunno:

the duk duk sound is usually the aircond valve opening and closing. It is located inside the dashboard. Did this happen only recently or it's been there all the while?

One possibility is that your aircond gas level is low.

Thanks Bro Affan66. only 2 days back this sound ?? How can i check the Valve or Aircond Level. Aircond is very cold. So the level i assume its ok ?

Please advise

finally someone is also having the same problem which I am at my wits end trying to rectify but failed. My e36 have that "duk duk" sound every once in a while and each time I took the car to the mech the blardy sound seemed to miraculously disappear... only to come out again after I leave the mechanic. At first I thought it was the flap opening and closing but even when I put the aircond on circulating and non-circulating mode, the sound is still there. Also sent my car to Naidu (the aircond fella in PJ) and he confirmed that the aircond gas is still adequate.

I have learnt to live with that irritating sound all these times, but if someone can really pin-point the root of the problem to eliminate the sound alltogether, it would be excellent.

ha ha. Took to Mech this morning and no sound at all. he took it for 1/2 hours drive. Still no sound..drove to office no sound. Will try again later.

hahahaha... that's what I mean. :( At the mech when the supposedly "expert" is around to diagnose the problem, the blardy aircond got no sound :aggressive: After that the sound comes back :aggressive: Soorian, tell us whether the sound came back or not

C-Square- My Ride is packed, later when heading home i will know, and i will update you on this.

infact this happen all the time...i am still experiencing this slight noise i guess caused by the air-cond blower when set to 1 only.....sampai workshop..phewwww....memang tak dak apa apa

Whole day yesterday and today no sound.
lucky you. hopefully the sound is gone forever from your ride.

the tuk tuk sound is from the sound of the ventilation flap trying to open fully. Once in a while, the ventilation flap will automatically open to allow fresh air to come into the car.

The ventilation flap is moved by gear and a actuator. when the gear is worn out, the tuk tuk sound will come coz the gear is slipping.. It was trying to open fully...

Thanks Jarance. So how can i repair this ? Chage the gear and a actuator ? how much do you think this will cost me ?

Sorry cant really help you on this unless see up close.

Append below is a view of the AHU. It look like you have to access it from the engine compartment.

Item 10 is the gearbox flap position. Maybe it is misalign and cause the actuator to keep opening the flap when it is already fully open.

It will be better to open it up and see what actually is wrong. I dont think you need to change the actuator coz it is working.

hmm, unker Jaran...can we stop the ventilation flap from opening and closing? Does it help by turning on or off the circulation mode of the aircond?

No you cannot stop the ventilation flap from opening or closing. It will automatically open to allow fresh air into the car once in a while to ventilate the car. (a safety feature)

On circulation mode, all the air in the car is recirculated. The ventilation flap is close but it will open once in a while to allow free air in.

if it is selected to allow free air in, the vent flap is open all the time. The sound will come only one time but you will get to smell all the smoke or whatever that is outside. :nyehehe:
