Advice- Buying a 2007 525i

Hi all sifus, finally got my loan approved and now will thoroughly check the car before putting my signature down. Need you guys to advice me: 1. what's need to be checked, consider me as a BMW blind person. 2. Recommendation of workshop and accessory shop in JB. Local AB car or Recond Jap/UK spec?

For local spec I believe only M-Sport was available for 525i.

Only Japan spec would be 525i SE with a 2.5 as the UK ones were all 3liters if I am not mistaken.

If 2007 LCI version , most of the part and problem has been significantly improved such as gearbox and oil leaking issues .. Rmb check the engine bay underhood area to make sure no oil leaking problem, and been a five years old car , other parts like lower arm , bushing and suspension likely to be due on their life span and do check as well ... Last but no least , get at least 6 mths warranty from car dealer if possible

had a look yesterday again, its japan spec. Engine was smooth when i start it (happy with it) but inotice e idrive has a brown colour backgroun, i have seen idrive with silver background. wondering whats the difference is..thanks

Things I've done before purchasing:

1) Brought my own OBD2 diagnose kit and plug it in the car and see for any errors.
2) Usual procedure; test every button/functions, engine oil level and camshaft metal colour, exhaust gas etc.

Also test the PDC function. Position gear knob from P to R (if auto) and see whether your PDC is working properly or not (see all the sensors working accordingly). At the same time could test the transmission. Test it during preferable during wet and cold day. If its raining then its perfect. Normally faulty PDC will cause failure in damp condition.

Bring along a mechanical that knows UDM well. It does help to check gb, under carriage, water leakages, hoses, oil leak, check also the interior carpet is not wet.

thanks for the advices.. once i get the car (waiting for inspection etc) i would want to know where to service and to customize it. hope friends in JB can guide me on the do's and dont's. thanks again
