I saw an e23 745i half cut, IMO its one of the better half cuts I have ever seen. It comes with a front skirt and fog lights but the American headlights which are 4 small lights instead of our usual 2 big 2 small lights. The engine is quite complete, only thing is I don't know if it's the 3.2 version or the 3.5 version. But for those already planning to salvage the front skirt, you can forget it, they apparently sold the half cut already. But if you want to view the specimen its still at BA auto's store yard in Bukit Lanjan(not the one facing IKEA). Mazin aka whl

not turbo get in the way....the steering box gets in the way

u sure its a 745i turbo?...then why 3.2 3.5>?

Bro..

There were two versions, 3.2 earlier 3.5 later model till production ended...

At that point of time, BMW made up to 6cylinders only. The V8's were not made for some time. If I'm not mistaken the last BM with a V8 was the 507 then they stopped making V8's till about 1993. Anyway.....the reason its called a 745 was because it had the output to match a 4.5l engine.

The LHD 745i's were turbo'd(252hp) and the RHD also known as the South African model were N/A. The South African model was basically using the same engine as the M635 and the e28 M5. This was a more powerful engine(286hp) using twin cams and boasting 24valves before Mercs were even using 3valves per cylinder. This engine made its debut in the M1.

Boon Han,

Its a LHD half cut.I think the steering will have a problem converting to RHD but maybe the turbo and exhaust can be rerouted to rectify that problem. But seriously I hope it makes it into the hands of another LHD 745 owner. It would be a waste to see the halfcut just being twisted and modded just to fit.

3.2L multiplied by turbo factor of 1.4 = 4.5

Hence 745i.

a used parts dealer in sabah showed me a photo of a e23745i photos from japan as he said. i think engine is a m30 tubrocharged.
i am going to have a look at the half cut this tuesday.
the half cut is white color LHD. are we talking about the same half cut ?
BTW anyone knows what is the market going rate for one of these ??

market for used 745i half cuts? What market? Its not like you're buying a bag of rice at the shop!

Its worth whatever you are willing to pay for it!

Yup the half cut is white. I'm not sure whats the market value though.

Anyway if I'm not mistaken the standard turbo boost for the 745 was not 1.4 bar. I sat in one ages ago and don't remember the boost being so strong. It felt more like 0.8 or even less.

HALF CUT WAS OFFER TO ME FOR 9K.

still considering about converting it into my 635csi

San,

Your car is already great on its own and to put in the engine then you will be having the first e24 645 hehehehehe.

Jeff,

The M30 3.2 has been fitted into South African e30's called the 333i. So I guess fitting this engine into the e30 shouldn't be a problem. Anyway brudder, you sudah cukup bikin kereta, you already finish your quota for this year, hehehehe.

Jeff maybe that quota should be used for a four door car as your family is not getting any smaller :D
