530d Turbo

Guys... planning to buy a 530d year 2004...will we know via the ecu check the Turbo unit is in good condition or need a mechanic to open up..pls advice thank you..Do i need to bring to the turbo specialist to service upon purchase ... Thank You.

Hey G,

i dont think via the ecu check will help.SSS / GT 1 will give a rough check all system is okay. unless there is a fault detected! simple drive & feel the turbo responce.... the rest you have to do visual checking if turbo is leaking oil etc... your bmw specialist should be able to give you the right advice. if possible check with AB for service history & see if engine or gearbox have been change... or even call back for any major faults....if they were means who have new engine & box.....be happy & enjoy the power & torque ! By the way whats a good engine oil to use for a turbo diesel ? would you know?

Hi Bro..Thanks for d advice..test driven and the power is good, did ecu test and there is one error msg on air flow..
well, paid the deposit getting the car next week..Hope for the best..
Engine oil no idea bro..
