Just added a E39 523 today! Missed that E39 528, next target would be an E60 525 or 530. Wish my dream comes true soon.

use to have all the escorts .. but moved on!...

Yes Nautica1973,

It's an awesome car and it;s true with what your bro said. The previous owner maintained it pretty well and am just touching up on certain things to keep up. Could really feel the conti feeling compared to jap/asian. Upholstery is simple and just nice..my exterior is silver met and creamy inside...comes with sun roof...and heavy tinted glasses...

ex owner wanted to sell the car with his 19" sports rim but i declined the offer and got him to install the ori 16" for 525 2002 model...looks simple and not too flamboyant...

In short, she is so slick and gorgeous....

gshanmg:

oh certainly, vast difference between a continental and an asian make. worlds apart. hey i like the cream interior, that's my all-time favourite. it just oozes class and atmosphere. the feel when one steps into the E39 cabin whispers "Welcome to the Real World".

i recall an article i read of a malaysian trade delegate to stuttgart in the late 70's where they were taken to the Daimler-Benz plant. there in the foyer laid a 190 replesdent and the design was way ahead of its time. the wife of the author nudged the husband asking him to enquire about purchasing it and shipping it back here. at which time then, it was only the W123 as the latest design to come off the factory floor i believe. nonetheless the author enquired of the host and was told that it was still in the R&D phase.

as the visit went on, they eventually came to the R&D department where they saw the 190 on simulated roadworthy test, automated hydraulic jacks were abusing the car from every which way in a random pattern. so it was posed to the host about the length of time the car is subjected to such test and he replied that it's been in there since its design phase and conception in the early 60's. it was informed to the author that the test model goes through years of R&D to simulate the daily condition regardless where in the world it ends up in so each time something breaks down, it would go back to the Design Engineers to ascertain what caused the damage. then it goes back on to be abused.

when asked why does the German mindset operate in such a way the host replied nonchalantly "We make our cars to last 3 generations".

Now, this is why we see in the Chrysler Daimler full page ad in Time, Newsweek etc a picture of 3 generation of Merc models behind a family.

Wonderful technology ?? You bet !!!

whats my story?
here's a short take'-the love 4rides,justlike most guys, 2me was "my dad",the man loved cars, but never could affort his dream gal,he would say.
well, his last ride b4 he passed away was an old 67'toyota [which the man would wash everyday-spotless]. so,we had it tough, what can i say.
...that made me not 2dream,period.

well my early ride was the infamous BMW [bus mini wilayah],that's what i call CRAZY DEVILISH RIDE,everyday.
then life got interesting with a mazda323 [runs like an angel], then came the 626[what a bitch] later professional hazard let 2me to a series of honda perludes from the 1st to 3rd generation[back then, with these cars, i never had time for "myself"]
then life changed with the real BMWs,my reincarnation begin with e30,lived with almost all the e36[318,325,316is - which is now planted with a 325; my wife's ride]i still have a big crush on these gals.

now at freakin 40,my cruzin gal is a e39,525[2001],someone that puts a smile on my face everyday. what can i say, mates. german babe,...the sound of music.

Well, before this sexy machine I own a line of Toyota babes.....love em' and still does ....still have one (Toyota Estima) and my wife's driving it now. Just got my first sexy German gal (E60) few months ago and loving every inches of it. Still love the Toyota though......different drive from totally different worlds.

Im 34, 525i (E60)

e34, 5251... 44 years old!! :)
