328i cabriolet E36 on fire!

Read today's Malay Mail (page 2) ".........when his BMW 328i burst into flames near the Abdullah Hukum LRT station in Bangsar............had stopped at a traffic light when flames gushed from the rear of his vehicle...........claims the incident would be due to faulty spare parts......"my car has always been in tip-top condition". So sorry to learn about this.............wonder what went wrong?
