320d Wheels Alignment Setting

Hi Sifus,

I recently bought an E90 320d and just swapped the RFT to non RFT tires. Thus, the balancing and the alignment has been done by the shop. The problem is the car feel so different (in a bad way of course), especially in corners.

My question is if there is anyone here has the factory setting of the alignment for the car as i suspect (ok not, the owner told me so) the shop did the alignment to reduce tire wear, and as a result, sacrificing driving experience. Please share.

Define feel in a bad way? Ride comfort? Cornering feels wobbly?

When swapping from RFT to non RFT, your tyres will have a softer sidewall hence you may not be used to it as well.
 
I would say the cornering suffers the most, which is wobbly. I havent try high speed crusing, but for low speed i would say the ride comfort is okay
 
i think you are just not used to the non-rft soft sidewall feel during cornering. I swap mine few months ago and i am not used to it as well during that time. After a while you get used to it.

agreed with bro Mavik, if the car feels so different at corners, most likely last time RFT's have stiffer sidewalls which does slightly helps during cornering..

non-RFTs will improve ride comfort tho...one way to complement back the handling, upgrade your suspension to H&R springs, bilstein abs or kw v2 :D racunzzz

My tire pressure is 240 front and 260 rear. I did some readings on the internet to increase 5% of the pressure recommended to replicate the stiffness of RFT tires.

On another note, most probably my alignment is off as the shop told me that he's alignment is best to reduce tire wear.

Any of you guys have the setting when u did your alignment at MPS?

I usually ask them for the standard E90 series setting. They have it and mentioned it to me a couple of times but I keep forgetting the number.

And the difference between them and most generic alignment places, is that they follow it to the T. They get the setting right and they will test it out to ensure that it is aligned properly instead of just aligning the tyres until it reaches the green zone or tolerance zone in the alignment machine. A normal alignment there can take up to an hour or 2 or maybe 3 if there are a lot of people.
 
need my help??? i never trust the alignment machine.. always bring along my trust worthy Rm1.90 roll of strings..

check with Simonyap. see how he like his alignment...
 
and guys.. the number is..

front : toe as close as possible to "0". i personally like 0.05-0.10 deg toe out. (camber is fixed so cant do much for this car)
rear : toe in around 0.15-0.25 on both. make sure it is balance meaning both side toe in and within 0-0.05 0f each other.
rear camber : -1 deg thereabout.

if you want tighter feel on power corners, then more toe in on rear up to 1 deg. but too much will make the car clumsy mid corner.

Exactly what im looking for. Thank you. Will try this setting, MPS will be my last resort. It is far from my place.
