Hey guys, wanted to get your opinios regarding this issue. My ride is e90 LCI 320d and I'm thinking of getting a performance upgrade. Added the K&N performance air filter the other day.1. Vector tuning around RM 1.6k2. Race Chip Ultimate around RM 2.5k3. ECU remap around RM 3k to 4kI hope all sifu's here can give me your opinions and experience with these products as well as recommend products in order to help all here. Cheers guys!

Best value for money upgrade:

- DTUK + DTE PedalBox = About RM2.8k.

If you wanted to go the hardware route, get the BMW Performance Kit. Promo price including installation is about RM7k.

A fellow member just did all 3 items above and is getting 206hp, 445Nm on wheel.

Thanks wingzee. Has anyone tried race chip ultimate? Was thinking of going for that and then have a dyno session to fine tune later.
Prob need baseline dyno stats first .
I'm a bit unsure about the ECU remapping because I'm afraid it might get reset or AB may give me problems later on . Mine is a 2011 model.
From what I've researched chip tuning is commonly being used more for diesel common rail engines than petrol engines. Most tuners advise ECU remapping for petrol vehicles. I stand corrected.

I had used chips before but now stopped them because it spoils the car's balance especially in corners. Straightline speed and acceleration is good however, but you lose the delicious BMW handling and feedback.

BMW's original powerkit is much better but dunno if they still sell for the e90.

Yes they have for E90s and the F30s.

I am in the market for a tuning chip for my D as well and per my survey, research and recommendation from those who had installed on their rides, DTUK works the best for our diesel engine while Racechip is more suitable for petrol. A couple of the guys who tested Racechip claimed that the ommph isn't that significant as compared to DTUK. Plus, we have our local dedicated support for DTUK here hence maps can always be updated according to your preference. DTUK is very well-known in the UK diesel tuning community.

Who's the vendor for dtuk in Malaysia? Haven't heard much abt it.
Majority of our beamer bro's are using vector + pedal box and are quite satisfied.
What abt ECU remapping such as dktuning? Has anyone tried them?

Personally I have tried both RaceChip and DTUK and I preferred the response of the DTUK map (power kicks in after 2500rpm) which makes it feel like a petrol car. I wanted to dyno my car over the weekend but the guy manning the dyno machine wasn't around on Saturday so I can't really provide much figures for it. I will be bringing the car on the track next Saturday during Renault track day so I can give you a bit more feedback on the map after the session.

Understand that the map will change the throttle response of the car especially during corners but how does it affect the handling and feedback? I really can't tie the added power from the map to the handling of the car unless if you are talking about entry or exit speed. I am going to the track next week for the first time with my new map (previous time it was with a stock car), anything I should be watching out for?

The problem with mapping an LCI 184 is that it can't be mapped without removing the ECU which makes it rather expensive. Mapping will also void much of your warranty whereas the BMW performance upgrade doesn't.

I'm very surprised that you were unable to keep up with an Insignia but if your car hasn't done many miles you'll be surprised how much it will loosen up. I got mine with 9k on the clock & now with 18k it is MUCH faster & smoother, so maybe give it a few more miles & see how it goes

After the powerkit, comes the piggy back. Gives you more power compared to the powerkit. Now that will really make your right foot more gatal ;)

Hello,

I'm thinking of installing the DTUK over my E90 320d PPK (197HP)......could you share with me the username of this fellow member, in order to ask him a couple of questions regarding this?

Thanks in advance
