318i alternator issues

hi all, the bimmer started whining the other night after a long run home, i suspected either belt tensioner or alternator bearings, after using my trusty steel rod to listen.This morning i performed exploratory surgery and found the problem, a worn front/nose bearing in the alternator.now, are there any places i can get this repaired, or should i just go for a s/hand unit? and, ah-em, does anyone have one laying around?...i need to get this sorted, wify been forced to use the family p$%£&n s"&athanks

Where's your location. It's probably a bad bearings. Most mechanics should be able to handle this.

hi, i can do it if i can get the bearings, im up by tanjung malim, but i reckon trying to find bearings will take longer than finding a new unit. its definetly the bearings, i can feel float on the front pully...

phoned around...cannot seem to locate a bearing kit...anyway ive been quoted 550RM for a proper recon unit, sounds steep, bit this is a boxed unit, as opposed to a street corner rebuild.... the missus wants me to get it for her P O Mind.... seems high $ though, thats the same price as new in the UK (checked on UK ebay)

i've got one that was diagnose as brush not so good ...but i bet it was not diagnosed in a proper manner which had forced me to change a used one ..paying rm350 for the alternator with a rm75 workmanship ..the alternator died on me the following weak with the same symptom i had previously ... then i had buy one more unit , this time from a seller here for rm200 and paid another rm50 for installing it ...

so to cut the story short , i've still got the 1st alternator lying in my porch and would give out free for you ..if you want it ..yehh free as it's no longer in use ..the alternator is from an m40 318

i'm not sure on it's workability , but as you are only looking for a bearing , that should be OK

Morning when unlock the car, alarm sound a bit slow.
Able to start the car after some cranking.
Since the battery is new (not even 1 month). I think the alternator might not working porperly.
How much will it cost.
My car is E36 318i year 1997. Anyone got spare alternator to let go.

New Battery kong. Claiming warranty.
Voltage around 8~10 when not running.

Check the alternator working fine.
Unplug the battery while engine is running.
