2013 502i: ConnectedDrive

Hi AllCan someone give me some expert advice? I just took delivery of a CKD 520i from local BMW AD and was eagerly waiting to try out the ConnectedDrive apps.Unfortunately, after I downloaded the app to my iPhone 5 and connected via USB, nothing happens. The iDrive does not show any ConnectedDrive or Apps option and when I ran troubleshooting using the app, it failed with message "Cannot connect"when i took the car back to the AD, they seem to give me conflicting answers. The SA says this option may not be available with CKD F10s while the techniciansays that the iPhone 5 may not be supported yet. I will be sending my car in for a thorough diagnosis, but I am puzzled how come they don't seem to have a definite answer.Does the 2013 520i come with ConnectedDrive option and if not, how does one enable it?Thanks

Unfortunately the BMW Apps (6NR) is not available as a standard option for any of the 5 Series. It MAY be able to be retrofitted (through programming) and some enable code from BMW.

I will know in two weeks time. Dealer is replacing my whole entertainment system due to audio problems and they said the BMW Apps should be there after they do the
replacement and perform a software update. I am surprised if the 5 Series don't have the Apps as my friend's 2013 X3 has it.

The whole audio system (with the exception of radio) is broken - lots static and noise. Affects everything - CD, USB Audio, GPS audio.. The dealer said they have to replace
the whole player. I'm a bit upset that they told me the new player will arrive in 2 weeks, now they say I have to wait another 2 weeks. Don't think it is the dealer's fault as
(1) the car shipped from the factory with a faulty audio system (2) the replacement part has to come from BMW

As for the ConnectedDrive, i see it on two of my friends' cars - X3 bought in March 2013 and 520d bought in Jan 2013. both said it was already there when they took delivery of their cars. They didn't have to do any coding or purchase the FSC codes.

The ConnectedDrive menu is basically the same as the BMW Services menu. Contents are the same unless you have the BMW Apps (6NR) retrofitted then it'll show APPS under the menu. Otherwise it's functions are the same. Was thinking of changing it to ConnectedDrive as well but will see how it goes. Do keep posted on whether your new HU has been programmed to ConnectedDrive menu

My is UK 2012 528i M Sport already have the connected drive and just download the software and update it by pen drive. nices to use it.

I don't know what version, my is 2012 model. I use the connec drive everything is work perfect.

Everything on the connect drive work great, but only I can"t use the BMW Remote on iphone and BMW online which a lot of fun. This I think need to register with BMW.

Mine also from UK and don't have the 6NR. But I managed to retrofit it and now I am able to use facebook, web radio, etc... For BMW online to work, you only need to do some coding, don't need to register with BMW but only thing that is not working is internet.... if you can register with BMW, please let me know as well. Thanks.

I just done the BMW online/ live and the Internet. All work fine for me. Only the Internet when the car moving you can't be use.

2013 F10 cant seem to be retrofitted with 6NR according to Vick from Bimmercode - I also recently took delivery of an F10 and wish to have the 6NR fitted but seems like it is not an option at the moment.

The 2013 F10 comes with an NBT idrive and not a CIC one. Anyone has their 2013 F10 retrofitted with 6NR out there?

My ride is 2013 F10 from UK and came with Business System originally. I have retrofitted with NBT and subsequently enabled the 6NR with no problem. Think you will need to buy FSC code in order to enable it.

I have just been officially informed by BMW via the dealer that 2013 F10s cannot be retrofitted with BMW Apps. As they claimed that the following options have been removed from the F10s produced locally in 2013

SA 633/644/639/6NL
SA 6NF

Or maybe just for F10 520i. Not sure about 528i

I am really upset that they took almost a month to replace my faulty player and then now this news that BMW Apps can never be retrofitted on my 520i.

do you have bluetooth in the centre arm rest? if have then you should have 6NL or 6NK or the newer code 6NS. if you know how to do coding, you should be able to check what fsc code is missing.

You may want to check what options you have using the vin checker www rubmw ru/vincode/eng . Alternatively you can ask one of the sponsor here which can do coding to check for you.

It can be done. In simple way, you need FSC code and vo coding for 6NR.
