2004 E60 530i Bluetooth module

My mechanic says that I need to replace the BT module on my ride. From earlier forum messages, AB quoting RM 2.5K for the unit.
Ebay has units going for US100-150.

Also read and watched on the net there are after market Bluetooth Aux adapters which can be retro fit to pair our audio units
Any forum members carried out such a retro fit ??
