have u guys checked the 130i? it is an awesome car.......The New BMW 130i 190 kW 3.0-litre straight six power 300 Nm of muscular torque 0-100 km/h in 6.2 seconds, top speed 250 km/h Laps Nürburgring North Loop in 8m35s Boasting a power output of 190 kW, with an awesome 300 Nm of torque, performance figures of 0-100 km/h (62 mph) in 6.2 seconds and a top speed of 250 km/h (155 mph) are the tantalising results. These figures better rivals such as the Alfa Romeo 147 GTA, Audi A3 3.2 V6 Sport Quattro Sportback and the Mercedes C320 SE Sports Coupé. Driving the rear wheels, the BMW 130i retains the optimum 50/50 weight distribution of the 120i thanks to the new weight-saving technology used in the engine. The BMW 130i is aimed at performance enthusiasts who enjoy the purest driving experience, where exciting engine output is not frittered away in uncontrollable wheelspin, nor steering response corrupted by torque steer. Rear-wheel drive delivers sure-footed traction and acceleration, leaving the front wheels to respond with precision to steering inputs from the driver. The BMW 1 Series is the only car in its class to benefit from the rear-wheel drive agility, poise and dynamic response. In testing the BMW 130i, engineers have lapped the famous Nürburgring North Loop in under 8m35s, previously a time set only by super sportscars. The BMW 130i will make its international debut at the Geneva Motor Show in March. The new 3.0-litre in-line six is considered a revolution in modern engine design. The dynamic way in which it releases power and its spontaneous throttle response ensure electrifying performance in all six gears. The engine uses advanced BMW Bi-VANOS fully variable valve train with infinitely variable camshaft timing for the inlet and exhaust valves and VALVETRONIC control of valve opening time and lift. The result is silky smoothness and an exhilarating growl from idle up to 7,000 rpm. The aluminium-magnesium composite block is a world first for a six-cylinder, though the BMW composite technology and bedplate block design has been borrowed from the new V10 5.0-litre found in the M5 and M6 supercars. Weight-saving was a key priority of the engine designers. Hydro-formed camshafts, and an electrically driven water pump and magnesium cover make the R6 the lightest six-cylinder in its class and sips just 9.0-litres of fuel per 100 km on the standard EU composite cycle. BMW excels in understated style, edged with a hint of menace. Thus the BMW 130i comes with a set of specially designed 17-inch V-Spoke light alloy wheels. Subtle modifications at the front add chromed radiator grille fins and twin chrome tailpipes at the rear valance. Standard interior trim includes sport seats, leather steering wheel and an instrument cluster with added gauges and displays specially designed for the 130i. Active Steering is offered for the first time on the BMW 1 Series. This multi-award winning system virtually doubles the steering effect at low speed to make manoeuvring simple. The BMW 130i also benefits from the high level of innovative and driver-friendly features fitted as standard to all 1 Series cars. These include run-flat tyres, tyre defect indicator, Brake Force Display stop lights, DSC dynamic stability control including panic stop detector, electronic differential lock and traction control, as well as cornering brake control. Six airbags are also standard. The BMW 1 Series has already been awarded the maximum possible Five Star EuroNCAP crash test rating, proving that smaller cars can adequately protect their occupants in high-speed impacts. The BMW 130i thus delivers all the traditional BMW core strengths in a highly concentrated form. High performance, engineering integrity, safety, comfort and advanced technology combine to deliver the Ultimate Driving Machine experience. No other vehicle in its segment can boast this distinctive harmony of sporting ride quality and character. The arrival of the BMW 130i in the UK will be Autumn 2005 and in late-2005 for Australia. Specification and pricing will be announced in due course.

 gimme gimme gimme!!!!
i think the 1 has got the best designed dash of all bmws..what a beaut..
and the power to weight ratio!!!! how much ah???

Following February’s announcement of the much-anticipated six-cylinder BMW 130i, BMW UK has confirmed the September 2005 introduction of the most potent 1 Series to date – the new 265 bhp BMW 130i.

Taking BMW’s lightweight magnesium-alloy six-cylinder 258 bhp petrol engine as a basis, BMW engineers have wrung every last drop of power from the revolutionary powerplant, making the BMW 130i six-cylinder the most powerful engine in its class and the most powerful six-cylinder engine under a BMW bonnet, bar the M3. It is also the only car in its segment to offer a front-engine, rear-wheel drive layout – the optimum set-up for on-road dynamics.

Taking BMW’s renowned attention-to-detail to the extreme, the 1 Series engineering team have exploited the 1 Series’ exemplary air flow and cooling to extract even more performance out of the car at full throttle. As a result, the 130i now delivers 265 bhp, seven horsepower more than the 330i, 530i and 630i. Similarly, torque has also been uprated to 232 lb-ft from 221 lb-ft.

The improvements in engine output enable the car to deliver a class-leading zero to 62 mph time of 6.1 seconds while top speed remains limited to 155 mph. Consumption is still frugal with the 130i recording 30.7 mpg on the combined cycle, while the EU4 compliant power train produces just 221 g/km.

The exciting performance figures of the BMW 130i are due in part to the VANOS and VALVETRONIC valve opening and valve lift control mechanisms on the 2,996 cc engine that ensure optimum combustion and engine breathing at all times. An electrically driven water pump also cuts down on internal engine friction and improves efficiency. Power is transmitted to the road via a standard six-speed manual gearbox.

Additionally, for the first time on a 1 Series, customers are able to specify Active Steering. BMW’s innovative steering system varies the steering ratio depending on road speed and has been tuned specifically to the 130i.

haha....drooooooooool

And i am #4 on the M2 buy list in the US...crossing fingers if BMW ever makes it. otherwise i might have to get the 130 if it ever goes there.

yes its only a rumor. But we will made the local dealerships create a buy list if it does come into reality. (crossing fingers)

whoa... nowadays the newer cars is so light and fast wor... 6speed with stick some more. :(

Looks great, but the interior still looks questionable....and quite a dull looking place to be in.

"Laps Nürburgring North Loop in 8m35s "

Thats pretty fast. But guys, bow to the EVO Mag "special", a 95 used E36 M3 with S50B30 euro engine. It dynoed at 300 hp crank. EVO is trying to make 8 mins or less in Nürburgring North Loop with changes to suspension and other bits. hardly touching the engine.

Will be interesting to watch its progress. As sub 8 min Ring is the domain of SuperCars to date. Awesome. Few have done it and lived to tell....

off topic but... which car currently holds the lap record for the 'ring eh?? Porsche 911 Turbo ???

Here's some facts:

The Porsche Carrera GT set the fastest time of 7'32.44 mins around the North Circuit back in Sept '04.

It was a 612 HP strong Porsche. Lap was completed along the 22.6 km long round in the Eifel at an average speed of 164 km/h.

before that, the average times were about 7'50 mins

But... :nyehehe:

First previewed at the AutoRAI held in February, the D8 270 RS is a road going copy of the Nurburgring record setter. It will be built in a limited edition of 25 cars, and so far most have been spoken for.

Netherlands-based Donkervoort create supercars that could be described as a modern Lotus 7s, a car first built in the 1950s that became popular due to its race-bred minimalism, lightweight aluminum body and incredible power-to-weight ratio. However, the D8 270 RS takes the Lotus 7 theme one step further by introducing a turbocharged Audi 1.8T 20V that produces 270 horsepower. Combined with an extremely light, 'no frills' chassis, the D8 270 RS produces over 400 bhp per tonne!

No wonder this Donkervoort beat the Porsche Carrera GT time of 7:32 by 15 fifteen seconds. Now the Sport Auto Nurburgring record is in the hands of Joop Donkervoort with a time of 7:18.01.  He says this feat was possible due to "the special configuration of the suspension and the enormously stiff chassis of the 270 RS".

and here's a pix of the monster that ate the GT for breakfast...

They will never touch 8 minutes without engine mods. Even the m3 csl fail to register lap time below 8 minutes. If Iam not mistaken CSL time is above 8 minutes.
