Eggie bro, pls don't fret about speed and pace. As the lead car, I will ensure fun but will maintain pace to ensure new drivers do not feel a need to catch up and end up losing control. Some basic rules: -

1. Go into a corner with sufficient speed, never floor into a corner
2. Come out of a corner of a corner with power
3. Never apply brakes when in the corner, do it before the corner if need be. Most important is when u commit, u go for it. Never hesitate....u'll be surprised
4. If in a manual car, never play a free gear or high gear in corner, will lose control of car unless off course you're an ecpert driver
5. Finally, stay your line

PS - ur car is aged bro, I would not mess around with gears unless off course u plan a change soon. Stick to S and let the GB and car do the thinking.....

These are MY ways of driving, which have so far worked for me.

Bro, you'll have fun so long as you stay your pace and do not ever be pressurred to keep up with others.

Thanks a lot Serjit. Just need to be a lil' patient with me la, since I will definitely travel at a speed I am comfortable with.

Yup, aged car, auto gb, might as well leave it in S and follow Greg and Pussy in their E32s... :4:

Eggie,

Always drive at the pace you are comfortable with. If others are faster let them through.

To answer your other queries about driving, join bmw's advanced driver training program.

Cheers

Thanks Albundy! Hmm, does the driver's training program cover the older models like the E32? Older cars don't have all those fancy schmancy electrical driving aids so I dare not take my car out for those routes which require much arduous hill climbing... If usual highway then I wouldn't mind stretching the dear old beast legs...

Sabai Sabai...

Mana itu official forms. :4:

Again, I can't join for this drive... :(

Those doing the Ulu Yam drive for the first time, I'd suggest you take it easy and enjoy the scenery along the way. There are some blind corners within the first few KMs and along the lake so be careful as there are the occasional oncoming traffic which eats into your lane! Had a few of these near misses on the bike.... scary shit.

Work on your lines and don't worry too much about speed lar. Eventually, everyone has to slow down at Ulu Yam town.... IIRC, got Sunday morning market there...

After the town going up to Awana, in the other car, I just usually stick it in manual and pretty much do the whole climb in 2nd gear (pretty much same for the bike). Never done it in the E38 before, but should be the same la.... just much slower. Again, work on the lines rather than the speed, would be my dua sen advise.

Same going downhill. Use a combi of engine braking and brakes. Unless u are using performance brakes, there is a small chance your brakes may fade towards the last few corners.... again, scary scary shit.... so just be mindful la, coz it usually the last few corners that you get really comfy with the pace and corners and tend to over extend...

Drive at your own pace and you'll enjoy it more!
